After joining three different servers and getting completely steam rolled by teams that consisted mostly of four or five heavy-medic pairs, I'm wondering if there is any good counter for such a strategy.
Ever since that heavy buff a few patches back, the winning team seems to be decided by who has the best heavies and medics. The only good counter I've seen is to get more heavies and medics on your team and then the game just ins't fun anymore.
It fucking ruins the game in my opinion because it makes all of the classes seem useless.
spy
You could be one of those Demos who lay traps at different corners. It's really fun and effective until they become paranoid enough and peek at every corner.
It's really easy to kill some as spy, just disguise as a medic and run in for a few stabs. Problem is this relies on your team not being useless shits and actually helping.
spy
That's not so easy when there are a whole bunch of them. A single pair can be easily taken out by a spy, but when they're all bunched up together shooting in all directions the best you can hope for is to pick off a stray person before dying.

Eternal Reward is your friend, trust me people will hardly notice their whole team getting backstabbed behind them.
If Spies don't work, take Snipers. Heavies are the slowest class and have big heads.
Otherwise, sticky traps, buff banner when several attack classes are around, counter-ubers, maybe Wrangler support if the map allows it or you're playing defense on RED.
Heavy/Medic is a strong combo but by all means not invincible imo. Makes for nice "rushes" tho.
Sniper. It's fun to kill overhealed Heavies and watch their Medics flee in panic.
And headshotting a Medic... It just feels good.
i find sticky traps the best way to do it
Use more heavies and medics.
Right now it's the only proper counter.
That or smart wrangler engineers.
4 Demo/Soldier + Medics > 4 Heavy + Medics
- Scout: Not very useful for taking them out directly, but yes for distracting them. If you have the FaN, use it to take out the Medic and flee.
- Soldier: Aim to the feet to propel away the Medic from its healing target.
- Pyro (With Backburner): You can burn out the medic with your flame thrower from behind. Then, if the Heavy sees you and tries to use his Minigun/Shotgun, retreat. (If you want, put him on flames and let to other teammates the rest)
- Pyro (Without Backburner): Use your airblast ability. Perfect for disorienting/separating Heavy/Medic übercharged duos.
- Demoman: Stickies all the way.
- Heavy:Take out the Medic if you happen to find the pair from behind. If not, pair with a friendly medic (be sure of spychecking him with a swing of your fists) and prepare to counter them.
- Engineer: The Heavy will most likely destroy your sentry first, so (if you have the Frontier Justice) use the revenge crit bonus to kill the Medic and lower Heavy's health (he will most likely kill you in a matter of seconds if you don't hide). If you see them far away, you can use the Wrangler to attack them.
- Medic: Pair with one of the adove classes and work together to counter the enemy Heavy/Medic pair.
- Sniper (Huntsman or Rifle): Headshot the Medic and then the Heavy. If you have jarate, you can throw it to both so your teammates can take them out easier.
- Sniper (Sydney Sleeper): Recharged bodyshot to the Medic (For killing him first), then, if the Heavy is still in your line of sight, use another bodyshot on him to apply the jarate effect. Let your team do the rest.
- Spy: Take away the Medic (He'll be most likely too distracted healing the Heavy) and then (if you're quick enough) backstab the heavy too, or cloack and flee (If you have invis watch or C&D) or use your dead ringer to feign death.
pretty much imposble unless your team is made of pro soldier or demos
Get a team that works together, as obviously they worked together. Cba to write more right now, will expand later.
Use more gun.
pyro
degreaser
axtinguisher
shotgun/flaregun
Blast them up in the sky and set on fire, keep blasting, when they come down axe them swiftly.
Or blast them high, shoot them with shotgun, and hope the fall damage kills them.
For ubers: Keep airblasting over and over.
Teamwork is the only way. Attempting it alone can't be done.

yes it can.
I do it all the time. But yes, teamwork makes it a whole lot easier.
Uh this is probably about heavies who know what they're doing.

Because it's impossible to actually kill the Pyro airblasting you as a Heavy at point blank range.
Ninja pyro the medic away with airblast. Then rape time to the heavy.

pyros that know what they are doing can kill a heavy medic combo easy. Ambush, get them why they are confused are two good things to do.
Also airblasting the medic/ killing the medic makes it easier to kill the heavy.
^^Doesnt work agaisnt people who know what they're doing.
Demoman them. Snipe them (especially huntsman). Get them from behind with spy's or a pyro. Shoot at them from far away with great damage (wrangled turrets, direct hits, demofaggotry).
Kill every one of them with a kritz demo also good.
If they already ubered, go ahead and compression blast the heavy in the air as pyro and let the uber end. Medic will run
Spy easily, Demo & Solly if you know what the christ you're doing, and if you're really good, pyro.
i just killed heavy being (over)healed with my wrangled lv2 sentry all alone in intel room on 2fort
Huntsmen Snipers, Jarate in all forms, Stickies (fuck stickies), The Sandman, Mad Milk, Direct Hit Soldiers, Spies of almost all flavors and even other heavies (Sasha > Natasha)
If it's just one or two heavy/medic pairs, if you have one competent player per heavy play "economy spy" and focus on the Heavy (counter-logic, wherein the player should usually nab the medic) you can bust up H/Ms. This works primarily in co-ordinated H/M pairs, but is also a fair way to bust up just good paired random players.
Edit: To clarify on madmilk, which may seem the most odd, a heavy cannot reliably out damage an oppenent when he is covered in milk at any range except "Fuck you I won already" range. The damage all other classes DPS outputs make up is simply higher than anything a heavy may dish out.
Spy easily, Demo & Solly if you know what the christ you're doing, and if you're really good, pyro.
pyro with backburner from behind, also works with other flamethrowers if heavy is dumb\clumsy enough
