Via HLDS: For TF2:
- Fix a bug that caused gameservers to not properly receive client inventory updates. (Frequent cause of the "The server you are playing on has lost connection to the item server" error message.) - Fixed not being able to equip all-class items properly - Fixed the DX8 water effect - Fixed the Beggar's Bazooka misfiring with 100% crits after firing a crit rocket - Fixed the Sandman not allowing after death kills strange part
For other Source engine games:
- Added sv_namechange_cooldown_seconds, to throttle clients from changing their name too rapidly. (Defaults to 20 seconds) - Added sv_netspike_on_reliable_snapshot_overflow to selectively enable the automatic dumping of netspike file if a client drops due to "reliable snapshot overflow" (defaults to 0, which disables the debugging) - Added check to prevent player names from containing color codes - setinfo console command will now reject attempts to set / change convars with any unusual characters
Rumor has it: - Valve also added a new beta quickplay system to the main game as well - There was a second update (~25 KB in size). gxti of reddit posted this Pastebin diff: http://pastebin.com/nZ5011Ci. It adds more lobby stuff. The "mm" part suggests it's MvM related. - Nothing new in the schema as confirmed by two sources - hogofwar however found even more MvM strings - Two new files were added to the game content .gcf, hinting at a possible lobby system (for MvM?)
love the engine changes poor myg0t
Nothing in the schema besides that sandman change. Tiny patch
Is the game stable now?
>Added check to prevent player names from containing color codes That's for those people that have names like ^86I'm^63a^43dickface that come over from Call of Duty, right?
Oh I thought it was the weekly item addition :(
Oh I thought it was the weekly item addition :(
Would've been on a Thursday if Valve wanted to do so again.
I always welcome fixes. It's always nice.
Is the game stable now?
I would seem so. The last persistent bug from the Pyromania update was squished this update, and item server disconnects are also supposedly fixed. I guess all we have left now is the Sniper glasses bodygroup and the Loch n Load.
Yes! The name change cooldown will solve the cheater problem on Valve servers.
Yes! The name change cooldown will solve the cheater problem on Valve servers.
That is, provided everyone can hit F1 in the votekick menu.

GUYS DO YOU KNOW WHAT THIS MEANS? WE FINALLY HAVE A SOMEWHAT STABLE SERVER CONNECTION
- Fixed not being able to equip all-class items properly
Man, that was annoying
They didn't fix all-class hats not wearing the right hat though :/
They didn't fix all-class hats not wearing the right hat though :/
oh come on
one last major Pyromania bug. YOU CAN DO IT VALVE, ONE LEFT
- Fix a bug that caused gameservers to not properly receive client inventory updates
Cool.
- Fixed the Beggar's Bazooka misfiring with 100% crits after firing a crit rocket yay
There was a second update (~25 KB in size). gxti of reddit posted this Pastebin diff: http://pastebin.com/nZ5011Ci Adds more lobby stuff. The "mm" part suggests it's MvM related.
What exactly is MvM?
What exactly is MvM?
It was originally thought to stand for Man vs Machine. Not so much anymore because newly added strings reference "Mu Vu Mu".
If you're going by the Read posts function, Valve also added a new beta quickplay system to the main game as well. Turns out the "mm" tags were for matchmaking.
Yes! The name change cooldown will solve the cheater problem on Valve servers.
No it won't. Namechangers can still steal people's names, and keep getting the wrong person kicked/banned.

Turns out the "mm" tags were for matchmaking.
Personally, I think they put "mm" in there to trick us into thinking that MvM/Tobor was actually this less-than-exciting matchmaking system. Don't think we need matchmaking with friends when we can just right-click their name and hit "Join Game".
I'm still waiting for an update that fixes the tf2 replay model error problem, why did this start happening, what could have possibly gone wrong. Happens way to fucking much for me.
I'm still waiting for an update that fixes the tf2 replay model error problem, why did this start happening, what could have possibly gone wrong. Happens way to fucking much for me.
I'm pretty sure Valve would include a fix for such things in the next Saxxies.
Is it only a few people who get to use quickplay beta? Also, THERE'S NO RANDOM BUTTON IN IT. EDIT: If you opt in and don't like it, toggle tf_quickplay_beta_preference.
