So, just a quick question.
I recently set -dvx08 or something in the launch prompt to change something, and when I set it to normal, I find these characters:

Now, Im not sure, but for some reason, they look odd to me.
All my settings are still maxed, and my autoexec is still ruinning my high detail script.
Any idea whats up?
Something about the lightening is odd.
Reinstall TF2?

Yeah, they don't have that... shininess that they usually do.
dx8 doesn't support that stuff, just remove -dxlevel from the launch options.
I did, I stated that I put everything back to normal and maxxed my settings, but they stayed.
Add -dxlevel 95 to revert to DX9. You only need to run the game with the -dxlevel parameter once, it remembers it afterwards. Actually, you should remove it after that, because running the game with it causes it to reset its graphics settings every time.
And about the lighting - DX8 does not support the Phong shader, which makes models look shiny in TF2. The best you can do is mat_specular 1, which will enable specular lighting (reflections), and make ubers and some weapons use their reflective surfaces (like the sniper's scope). But you can't enable the shiny effects on characters themselves under DX8.
Fffff
After taking everyones advice, I decide a complete reinstall is in order.
Completly reinstall...
the problem still persits.
Ffffff
Well that was dumb.
It was just a simple graphical problem that can be fixed with about 2 commands.

Ouch!
It's weird that it didn't help. After you run the game with -dxlevel 95, go to your Video options -> Advanced, there's a menu at the bottom right which displays your current DX level. What does it say?
looks fucking awesome

After actualy re-inputting -dxlevel 95, it worked. For some reason, first time I did it, it didn't work.
Well, Zavist, all I have to say to you is

YOU DID WELL
K thanks for the halp.
Shaders were missing.
I'd like to make the models look that way, but not reduce the quality of the models.
Does that command make them look low-quality, or just take the shiny away?

Ah, it was as simple as disabling the phong.
I actually prefer the way they look, they look more cartoon-ish fitting the tf2 style.
