Front page FPSB feature! FUCK YES.

Yo, posting my latest FPSB submission for FP to mock. This time I've done the slightly useful tips on the loading screen that nobody reads!
http://www.fpsbanana.com/guis/20854
UPDATED! I've added tons of suggestions from the thread and other ideas that popped into my head to bring the grand total of tips to 108! Thanks for the help!
I fixed up all the existing tips (Valve is very inconsistent with its grammar and terminology) and added 62 more. Some of it is info that is common yet not quite known to everyone and some of it is obscure yet useful info that I don't see a lot of people knowing in-game. I made sure to make at least one tip per unlockable weapon and mentioned many rules that have been added to the game since original release. I also converted the "ubercharged" avatars into VTFs to replace the "portrait" avatars currently in the game to make the tips more noticeable and add more flavor.
Here's a full list extracted from the file:
"Tip_1_Count" "12"
"Tip_1_1" "As a Scout, jump again in mid-air to change direction and avoid enemy fire."
"Tip_1_2" "As a Scout, you capture control points twice as fast as other classes."
"Tip_1_3" "As a Scout, you're most effective when you stay moving and use your speed to your advantage."
"Tip_1_4" "As a Scout, your scattergun is most effective at point blank range."
"Tip_1_5" "As a Scout, your pistol is great for picking off enemies at a distance."
"Tip_1_6" "As a Scout, your bat provides 30 extra health compared to the Sandman. Use your bat if survival is a top priority."
"Tip_1_7" "As a Scout, the Force-A-Nature has a heavy knockback on close enemies. Fire twice in a row to disorient them and make a quick escape."
"Tip_1_8" "As a Scout, Bonk! Atomic Punch provides 6 seconds of invincibility, but also 6 seconds of slowdown. Time it so you end up in a safe place."
"Tip_1_9" "As a Scout, the Sandman's stun ball stuns longer if it flies farther. Stay behind the front lines on defense and stun enemies from afar."
"Tip_1_10" "As a Scout, remember that the Sandman's stun ball doesn't work at close range but still does 3 damage to the target whether it stuns or not."
"Tip_1_11" "As a Scout, use Bonk! Atomic Punch to distract enemy sentry guns, allowing your team to move forward and destroy them."
"Tip_1_12" "Rushing into enemy fire by yourself will only result in your death. Help your team with the fighting and they'll help you in return."

"Tip_2_6" "As a Sniper, Jarate can reveal hidden Spies. Be wary, as Spies using the Dead Ringer won't be visible if they cloak after being soaked."
"Tip_2_7" "As a Sniper, the Razorback breaks after being stabbed. Grab a new one from a resupply locker once the offending Spy is dispatched."
"Tip_2_8" "As a Sniper, keep your ears alert for Spies stabbing the Razorback. If you don't hear it happen and don't react before their knife cools down, they can backstab you."

"Tip_2_10" "In an encounter with an enemy and their Medic, always try aiming for the Medic to cut off the enemy's supply of health."
"Tip_3_Count" "7"

"Tip_5_9" "As a Medic, the Ubersaw will still gain you ÜberCharge if the enemy being hit is a Scout phasing with Bonk! Atomic Punch."
"Tip_5_10" "As a Medic, using ÜberCharge to be invulnerable to damage does not mean you are free from harm. Watch out for Pyro air blasts and explosion knockack."
"Tip_5_11" "As a Medic, charge in ahead of your ÜberCharge patient so sentry guns will aim at you instead of them. This allows your teammate to move in."
"Tip_5_12" "As a Medic, your syringe gun automatically heals you over time by 3 health per second compared to the Blutsauger's 1 health per second."
"Tip_5_13" "As a Medic, the Ubersaw will not gain you ÜberCharge if the enemy being hit is a disguised Spy."

"Tip_6_8" "As a Heavy, be sure to get another Sandvich if you drop yours. Sandviches can be gotten from health packs if your current health is full."
"Tip_6_9" "As a Heavy, your minigun's spin-up wastes the Killing Gloves of Boxing's 5-second critical buff. Carry your shotgun with the K.G.B. to maximize crits."
"Tip_6_10" "As a Civilian, refrain from attacking and use your slow movement to promote peace on a torn battlefield."

"Tip_9_11" "As an Engineer, you can do more than just maintain your buildings. Use your shotgun and your pistol to assist in fights and to defend your buildings."
"Tip_9_12" "As an Engineer, sentry guns aren't restricted to just defensive measures. Deploy them quickly in hidden locations to aid in an offensive push."
I mainly made this thread, however, to listen to suggestions for more tips! These can be expanded infinitely as far as I can tell, so feel free to post useful strategies and notes about classes and rules that you don't see a lot of people using correctly or knowing. If I get enough legitimate ideas, I'll update the submission.
Enjoy.
Good idea
Most of the Valve tips are common fucking sense
Tip: As a scout, you're most effective when you stay moving and use your speed to your advantage!
wow thanks Valve I wouldn't have been able to work that out on my own, it's not like the class is the fastest and weakest or anything

I considered removing most of the Valve tips, but since this is aimed toward newbies I felt like I should leave them in and just update their text. A lot of them had improper grammar, inconsistent terminology, and didn't mention any new additions to the game.

I see you found one of the two joke tips. :v: I figured they're basically TF2 culture by now, so they should be appropriate to pop up once in a blue moon.
I like the Civilian one.

The bit about your silhouette not appearing while cloaked with the Dead Ringer, I don't believe is true. Although without thirdperson 1 I can't see myself, I was stealing cloak power from a buddy's dispenser while he was standing on it, and I happened to bump into him. Although we were screwing around so I didn't die, my outline did appear in first person.

The outline appears in first-person, but nobody else sees it. It's one of those things Valve is yet to (or didn't want to) fix (the first-person fading, I mean).
This is why it's so hard to chase down a Dead Ringer Spy; they only take 10% damage while cloaked and they don't fade in. The Dead Ringer is meant to be an escape tool.
EDIT: And if you think that's overpowered, keep in mind that Dead Ringer Spies can be hit by flames at any point during their escape and will continue to burn unless they can uncloak (loudly) and find enough ammo to recharge the lost cloak (it automatically drains 40% of the meter off if you uncloak while you have at least 60% cloak left) to re-fake their death from burning or find a health pack. Either way, fire can pretty much fuck up the entire escape.
As an Engineer, hit %attack2% to rotate buildings before you hit %attack% to build them. Use this to face teleporters away from walls.
More engies need to know this, I hate taking a teleporter just to came out looking at a wall.

Ah, okay, guess that makes sense with the amount of bumps I've gotten after 'killing' a Dead Ringer Spy. As annoying as it is when hunting them, I hope they don't 'fix' it. Makes the Dead Ringer more useful and more fun to play with. Nothing like playing tag with an Engineer while siphoning cloak power off his dispenser.
Pretty good mate i laughed so hard at the spycrab one also made me want to go around spycrabing
Would you want to make this a community thing? Like a Facepunch Tip Pack or something?
Would you want to make this a community thing? Like a Facepunch Tip Pack or something?
I'd prefer not to call it "Facepunch Tip Pack" but I'd definitely credit anybody who submitted info that I used.

Why? You don't like facepunch? :saddowns:
Remember to add that you can extinguish flames on teammates using the pyro's airblast.
And that jarate can put out flames on teammates and yourself if you aim at your feet.
Unless they're already in there, I don't see them in the list though
Maybe:
"As a Pyro, use your flamethrower's airblast to extinguish burning teammates"
and
"As a Sniper, jarate can be used to extinguish burning teammates"
+
"As a Sniper, release jarate at your feet to extinguish flames"
EDIT: Joke entry time
"As an ubered Demoman, jump with 8 stickies to end up in Counter Strike"
Why? You don't like facepunch? :saddowns:
Word "Facepunch" on FPSBanana can cause big shitstorm.
Maybe that's why?
The bit about your silhouette not appearing while cloaked with the Dead Ringer, I don't believe is true. Actually, the reason your silhouette appeared is because only the first 6-8 seconds of cloak has the no-showing up ability. Replenishing your cloak (standing on the dispenser) without decloaking reverts the Dead Ringer into a normal cloak watch in terms of damage received and appearing when bumped into.
Anyway, nice edits/new tips. I might just use them. :)
Medic:
- Disguised Spies will not fill your ubercharge meter if you attack them with the Ubersaw. That's no reason not to kill them, but don't expect a free ubercharge after killing him.
- Use your Primary in a sticky situation and need to escape. Remember, syringes travel in arcs, not straight lines.
- Your Kritzkrieg, when active, can save your life! Taunting grants +10 HP each time, so use it when there are no health packs nearby, but need to stay next to allies.
Demoman:
- Pipebombs are deadly on direct hits. Aim accordingly to get the maximum effect of your Primary.
- Pipebombs are bouncy! Use walls and corners to bounce into difficult ares where you'd otherwise not want to travel.
- Stickybombs make great for pre-fire. Fire and detonate one as you approach a corner to ward off any potential ambushes or attackers.
Sniper:
- Jarate is a useful tool, but don't forget your teammates! It can also extinguish flames, so have it handy for your allies when there are no other means of aid around.
I'm helping :3
Valve needs to add this shit.
Also:
With the normal syringe gun you get a much higher health regen rate, use this to your advantage when you have no dispensers or other medics to fall back to.
-As a pyro, use the airblast to extinguish your burning teammates. :eng101:
As a Heavy, dropping Sandviches infront of burning teammates extinguishes them. Use this to save your Medic!
Is there a way to keep the old class pics?
As a Medic you can ubercharge more than one team mate by continuesly clicking on both of them. Beware, uber drains quicker while doing it.
Really need it, also
As a soldier you can rocket jump higher by crouching as you rocket jump. (same one for demo)
One medic is better than 5 spies, go medic to help your team. (for medic, something similar to it would be nice)
Hats and other weapons drop randomly.
Collect class achievements and unlock milestones to unlock weapons !
As a medic, heal players low on health first.
Remember, as a scout YOU ARE NOT invulnerable to sniper headshots, watch out for them.
As a sniper huntsman is great to shoot around the corners.
As a sniper make medics, engineers and other snipers your priority.
i can come up with more but cant think of anything now lol
As a Medic, your healing beam is firmly locked on healed target. If there is no good cover, it's good to zigzag behind your patient making you much harder target for snipers and spies. Keep moving at all times.
[editline]02:07PM[/editline]
As a Medic, your Kritzkrieg taunt adds you 10hp. It can save your life if you are burning with low heath and with no other direct danger around.
[editline]02:10PM[/editline]
As a Pyro, Use your flare gun to harass distant targets as snipers or engineers, as you move towards to short range fights of your flamethrower. Your flare gun has plenty of ammo, and has no range damage falloff, which makes it effective support weapon.
As a Spy, while using the Cloak & Dagger, confuse your enemies by using random voice commands.
"NEED A DISPENSER HERE"
"That demoman is a spah!"
"That spy is not one of ours!"
As an Engineer, Try to stay active after setting up your buildings. Your firepower is indispensable, and often gives your building better security than only repairing them.
The outline appears in first-person, but nobody else sees it. It's one of those things Valve is yet to (or didn't want to) fix (the first-person fading, I mean).

Actually you do fade in while cloaked as a dead ringer spy, ONLY until after the initial 10 or so second cloaking period is over. So if you pick up a lot of ammo and stay cloaked, your dead-ringer cloaking period will run out and then your cloak turns into a normal one that just feeds off ammo.
