• TF2 Crashing when taking screenshots!

I've started playing TF2 again because of all the new hats and achievements, etc. Well like the title says...my TF2 likes to crash at random times. I am able to play for varying times, but it always seems to crash with the error 'hl2.exe has stopped running'. Recently I just got my GTX 280 RMA'd, and I do not believe that's the issue. Other games work fine such as 5 straight hours of L4D2. Some things I tried to fix the issue: 1. delete and re-install TF2 (tried three times already, including manually deleting the files) 2. reinstall/get latest drivers 3. disabling some background applications 4. disabling MOTD 5. disabling multicore rendering 6. Delete the 'tf' folder in HKEY_CURRENT_USER > Software > Valve > Source Some things I have yet to try (but doubt could be a solution): 1. lower quality settings (haha yeah right xD)(It seems to increase my play time before crashing though) 2. reinstall Steam 3. not play at all 4. <Insert your solution here> My Specs: Intel Core i7 920 @ 2.67GHz Corsair XMS3 DDR3 1066Mhz (3x2GB) NVIDIA (EVGA) GTX 280 Creative Sound Blaster X-fi Windows 7 Professional 64-bit (6.1, Build 7600) (7600.win7_rtm.090713-1255) ASUS P6T Deluxe V2 EDIT: I noticed that it's been showing these events happening in my Event Viewer, so here are the results: and a details list:
Log Name: Application Source: Application Error Date: 5/24/2010 5:08:57 PM Event ID: 1000 Task Category: (100) Level: Error Keywords: Classic User: N/A Computer: Nathan-PC Description: Faulting application name: hl2.exe, version: 0.0.0.0, time stamp: 0x4bd4c4d8 Faulting module name: client.dll, version: 0.0.0.0, time stamp: 0x4bf5bc25 Exception code: 0xc0000005 Fault offset: 0x002afd84 Faulting process id: 0x1134 Faulting application start time: 0x01cafb84a0212c67 Faulting application path: f:\program files\steam\steamapps\USERACCOUNT\team fortress 2\hl2.exe Faulting module path: f:\program files\steam\steamapps\USERACCOUNT\team fortress 2\tf\bin\client.dll Report Id: 90f02477-6778-11df-93c4-00248c528c6f Event Xml: <Event xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/win/2004/08/events/event"> <System> <Provider Name="Application Error" /> <EventID Qualifiers="0">1000</EventID> <Level>2</Level> <Task>100</Task> <Keywords>0x80000000000000</Keywords> <TimeCreated SystemTime="2010-05-24T21:08:57.000000000Z" /> <EventRecordID>10655</EventRecordID> <Channel>Application</Channel> <Computer>Nathan-PC</Computer> <Security /> </System> <EventData> <Data>hl2.exe</Data> <Data>0.0.0.0</Data> <Data>4bd4c4d8</Data> <Data>client.dll</Data> <Data>0.0.0.0</Data> <Data>4bf5bc25</Data> <Data>c0000005</Data> <Data>002afd84</Data> <Data>1134</Data> <Data>01cafb84a0212c67</Data> <Data>f:\program files\steam\steamapps\USERACCOUNT\team fortress 2\hl2.exe</Data> <Data>f:\program files\steam\steamapps\USERACCOUNT\team fortress 2\tf\bin\client.dll</Data> <Data>90f02477-6778-11df-93c4-00248c528c6f</Data> </EventData> </Event>
EDIT: Ok, well I created a thread on the Steam forums as well and this is what they said: http://forums.steampowered.com/forum...1#post15108849 also; http://forums.steampowered.com/forum....php?t=1251357
All I know is Re-Install steam otherwise its either a conflicting software or a hardware issue.
All I know is Re-Install steam otherwise its either a conflicting software or a hardware issue.
How come it only happens in TF2, and not L4D2? They both use hl2.exe to run. Also, how would I go about figuring out if it's a 'conflicting software or a hardware issue'?
1) Windows + R, type regedit 2) Go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER > Software > Wow64Node (I believe it's for some x64 systems, otherwise skip to the next folder) > Valve > Source 3) delete the "tf" folder
1) Windows + R, type regedit 2) Go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER > Software > Wow64Node (I believe it's for some x64 systems, otherwise skip to the next folder) > Valve > Source 3) delete the "tf" folder
What's in that folder? I want to know if I'm deleting something important.
Listen to Max, he's a smart kid. I think he knows what's good or bad.

Ok, I deleted it, and it seemed to be working (about an hour of playtime which is longer than usual), but then it crashed when I have to reconnect to a server. [editline]04:34PM[/editline] This is the first time I got this error message:
