• How To Edit And Create Custom Waves For Team Fortress 2 Mann VS Machine

Hi, my name is mrsal511 I have a youtube channel(mrsal511) that has a few helpful videos that may help you when trying to nerf, make harder, edit, or add your own custom waves to TF2 Mann Vs Machine. This takes some knowledge of simple text editors and a brain. As well this is for use with your own TF2 server!
Problem is I tried opening the files with Notepad++, however it was all gibberish. Are you using some sort of plugin?

As well, do remember you have to chose open with > program. Not just double click.
Holy shit nice I must try this to make "endless" mode
I'm currently making a mission that is nothing but soldier bots, with loadouts from my best friend. They're all named "Joop", such as "Kabouter Joop", "Opa Joop", "Kapitein Joop" and so on and forth.
Not got far into the video. But things worth of note for mission makers. When it comes to items on bot presets, the name used is the same as in the item schema. So the houwar is Treasure Hat 3. It also appears only 1 misc is allowed at once. As for broken items: Any hats meant to replace the scout’s cap or earpiece. (no bodygroup to remove them) Any hat meant to replace soldier’s helmet (no bodygroup to remove them) The Kringle Collection (neck is stretched to the map origin) Villain's Veil (Clips through the sniper's face) Pet Ballonicorn & Pet Robro (float too far and are too erratic). Pyro replacement heads DO work because the pyro has a head bodygroup. All other items that require bodygroups on the real class models will probably clip and not work well. Scout legs wont remove the default legs, so some clip, but most of the ones with boots look fine. Most other cosmetics should look okay, though the bot heads occasionally do not quite match up with the normal classes so the items hover a little. On the mission side of things you can set unconventional classes to special missions, I set up some crossbow medics with the sniper mission set and they worked fine, taking the high ground and sniping from afar.

One thing to note, for budding mission makers, is that Valve provide an example POP file with tutorial-esque comments, as well as an example map mvm_example.vmf included with the Source SDK.
Someone needs to make a series of ridiculously massive waves of Heavy Weapons Gnomes. Just imagine hundreds of tiny Heavys with wizard hats and beards, armed with allways-crits Holiday Punches, all running towards the bomb as fast their tiny legs can carry them. I would genuinely pay money for Mann Up Mode if that was a legitimate thing.

Someone get working on an endless mode, stat! [editline]18th August 2012[/editline] I'll help test any endless mode of course :D

I can see a lot of opportunity with this. Custom, fun servers with loadsa fun-to-play, awesome waves, and, as people already said, endless modes (That would be really awesome).

My server already offers a totally custom 18 wave game, with a few bugs yet to be worked out!
Great idea :)
Great idea :)
Thanks!
Once I get the hang of this, I'm gonna make a huge mission. Every few rounds will have some silly gimmick, like Demoknights or Heavy Weapon Gnomes, or SMG rushes.
;37301354']Problem is I tried opening the files with Notepad++, however it was all gibberish. Are you using some sort of plugin?
Update gcfscape and extract the file again.
I'm going to make a run in which a large amount of tiny, fast, and weak tanks swarm you with Huntsman support snipers :v: Also
Drunk Scottish Cybot 1 Giant Demobot with nothing but a Bottle

Battle Medicks 50 Syringe-Gunning Medics with 20 Uber Medics

Evicted 80 Half-Scale Eviction Notice heavies
but I'll do it tommorow
Someone already did custom servers? I want to play one where i can fully upgrade at least one gun :<
*snip Also I shall be running a custom server very soon. Once I finish this custom wave. The hard part is finding how much currency there should be total in a wave.
It seems it won't to the next wave after all robots are destroyed. I have two waves now.
Does this work on a listen server? I only edited the starting money and tank's health, and when I created a server, there were absolutely no waves, and no money (the money counter was just blank, and the wave counter was showing Wave 0/0)
Post your code, I can probably see what's wrong.
Sorry mate, I already removed the script files. I am a bad scripter overall, so I won't bother with the waves
I don't HAVE an HLServer foler in my Local Disk help?
Someone already did custom servers? You really need to be fully upgraded. [editline]19th August 2012[/editline]
I don't HAVE an HLServer foler in my Local Disk help?
It depends what you use to run your server! Do you use steams server program thingy(Name escapes me) I found that the steam server thingy doesn't work as well as I would like.

I wasn't going to actually run a server, but just load up a map of it to dick around in :u
