I've been getting this crash to desktop bug all day, out of the clear blue-- I've never had it happen before, and haven't changed any clientside files between yesterday and today--- that I know of, anyway. Does anyone know why this is happening, and/or how I can fix it? I can't even play--sometimes it cuts off a minute after a map loads, sometimes as soon as the map loads. It's driving me insane :frown:

Yes, I validated game files
I don't know what to do. Have you Google'd it? Usually my first response.
Your ram is fried.

:ohdear: Really?
That happens to me too sometimes.
Try using the command -high?
Close all other unnecessary programs running?
Or you could switch to dx80 mode.

I have a 4 gigs of RAM, a GTX260 and a quad core processor OC'd at 3.03 GHz.
I will not stoop to dx80.[/pretentious]

I'm gonna dust out my case and try again.
I keep running out of Page Pool memory. I even turned off my security, closed EVERYTHING and it still crashes on me, even with some of the lowest settings. It's unplayable anymore :frown:

:trashbear:
@: Eva: could be something running that's hogging up your memory...look at your task manager to see whats taking memory...also do a spyware/viral check just in case.

Just sweeped it yesterday. And the other thing hogging up memory is Steam and really important settings that I can't end without fucking something else.
Usually happens when you have skins lying around that the game doesn't agree with.
This may seem obvious, but have you tried restarting?
Back. I didn't have one of those gas dusters so I just took a bendy straw and blew into it really hard.
Well, old Compy sure booted faster. Lets see if it helped any.

Do you use Trend Micro.
Yeah, that is most likely your RAM causing the problem.
It's having major problems reading/writing memory into it.
Open up your case, Take out every stick of RAM (While off!!) And add one stick back in at a time. Boot it up after you put a stick in, and see if the problem persists. If you put a certain stick of RAM back in and the problem comes back, that particular stick of RAM is going bad.
...
I word things terribly. Sorry.
Try this first https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=1274-UOHK-5653 above everything else.
Alternatively, you can run a program called Memtest86+ to run a series of hardware tests to determine if any of the memory sticks are faulty.

Offtopic.
Hobo! Hello! I am Yukarimobile on Steam! I didnt know you were on Fp?
Isn't this XP related? I think I heard that somewhere that TF2 isn't running very good on XP.
As soon as I got my Windows 7 this stopped happening
It's an XP bug most likely

It's not happening to me. I think it's safe to say it's a hardware problem.
I just started getting this. I'm XP too. :frown:
OF COURSE! This is Valve's way for saying: Get Windows 7, bitch!
I told you about the memory leaks, bro, I told you, dog.

I was worried why it took so long for this to appear.
I get that on my XP partition but not my Windows 7 partition.
I have never had this problem, I use XP. It's even a fairly dated computer.
I fixed mine by just deleting a few mods that I installed.
