The Multiplay Insomnia Gaming Festival in Telford, England is UK's biggest LAN tournament, and unquestionably one of the highest profile TF2 competitions in the world. One thing it didn't have until recently, though, was any American representation. E-sports broadcaster eXTV has been spearheading a fundraiser to get our boys in the fight, and the TF2 community has responded, donating the money for airfare, PCs, and accommodations to get America's top TF2 players to the 9v9 tournament.
We couldn't be happier to hear this, firstly because it once again proves that TF2's got the most generous community in gaming history, and secondly because U! S! A! U! S! A! Actually, there might be some Canadians on the team. Close! E! Nough! Close! E! Nough!
A short and sweet blog post.

FYI, most of Facepunch hates or does not give a shit about competitive stuff, just so everyone knows.

I know quite a few comp players who are also facepunchers?
Personally I'm getting into comp.
Mix^ and LG don't stand a chance versus Epsilon. Going to be an awesome event anyway.
Epsilon to win it all. For god sake, Shintaz bring it home !!
[editline]21st August 2012[/editline]
Also... Tyrone please.. PLEASE hit someone during a match! :(

Was [/sarcasm] in my post necessary?
As a Canadian I don't care.
"Telford, England"
I almost misread that as "Teufort"

FYI, you do not speak for all of Facepunch, just so you know.
Canadians in my TF2?
how are they able to spread friendship and tolerance in the bloody pile of weapons and shit
As a Canadian, I'm greatly offended by that last part
If you were really Canadian, you would be sorry (sore-y, as it is pronounced in Canada) your country is interfering in our unabashed patriotism.
Also, why does every competitive TF2 team name sound like something old white board of directors at Mountain Dew call their newest soda to sound "hip and refreshing"

What? I can't help that others are stomping on your party!
epsilon is going to win it all
Because a lot of the teams are sponsored and use the names of their gaming organisation as their team name.
this was deserving of a blogpost
this was deserving of a blogpost
Well, it is the biggest IRL TF2 event to date.
No lowballs pls
Buying accommodations for 5 keys.
Selling accommodations for 7 keys.
Any offers less than 7 keys will be reported for low balling.
EDIT: The blog post title made me think this was another news bit about the Saxxies.

The newbies might not though
this was deserving of a blogpost
This is the first time North Americans have been to the biggest LAN for TF2. All the Americans have is the ESEA LAN, an 8 team league of the top teams in North America. They are now going into a pool of teams from all over Europe, much more than the 4 that attend the ESEA LAN. So this is a huge deal in competitive.
Till around 3-4 weeks ago, the competitive community had no idea if two teams or one team would go. But due to the extreme generosity of Salamancer and the community in its outpouring of donations, two teams from America were able to go. Showing the we can support a competitive community (Something that really was doubted by the TF2 team from hearing what eXtine from eXtelevision was saying).
I understand some people don't like competitive, I respect their opinion but just ignore this blog post. It gives some well deserved respect to our small community that banded together to do something we're proud of. It gives a little more recognition rather than just posting a small blurb on the news page, where few venture.
People also forget about blogs posts like these, that happened a few times in 2010-2011.
The newbies might not though
Why would it matter? If people don't like comp then they wont talk about it, and if they do, then they will. Anyone here who's so militantly against it that they'll start an argument over it is the exception, not the rule.
The newbies might not though
you don't need to post it in every goddamn thread, nobody gives a fuck. if they like it, they like it, if they don't then they don't. people will voice if they dislike it via ratings, which nobody in their right mind would give two shits about anyway.
I thought this is what the News section was made for, so competitive stuff doesn't go on the Blog tab anymore.
No lowballs pls
