Hello facepunch,
I've been playing TF2 since the day it was released, but for the last few months, I keep getting this strange bug where everything in-game looks dark and blurry after I've picked a class:

Moving around with the mouse makes the image flicker in different shades of gray/brown.
My graphics settings are all at maximum, changing this doesn't help. I've even tried one of those very low quality configs.
This seems to happen constantly on some maps, but not at all on others (this screenshot was taken on pl_thundermountain, right after the server loaded this map). Rejoining or quitting the game and starting back up again doesn't help either.
I'm not using any custom textures or other media. Verifying gamecache and reinstalling TF2 doesn't help either...
It looks like the texture that normally goes over the buttons in the menus when you do a mouse-over, is layed over my entire screen.
Does anyone know how to fix this? I hope I'm not the only one having this bug, as I can't seem to find any other related threads.

Most likely the graphics card doesn't like TF2.

Graphics card is only a few months old and I played this map many times before with no problems. Other games work fine as well.

TF2 Brown n' Bloom edition
i've seen this issue come up a couple of times but i can never remember how to fix it

Have you tried restoring your driver to factory settings?
Have you tried restoring your driver to factory settings?
I haven't messed with any driver settings (like overclocking and things like that).
Do you know how to do this? I have a GeForce GTS250.
Team Fortress 2 like the devs intended it to be from the beginning, a brown 'n' bloom realistic shooter.
Turn off multicore rendering.
dxlevel 81 might help.
What map is that?
Wow for a second I thought the picture was GTA IV.

I see a big "RED" on the floor, the only map I can think of that has that is 2fort.
More like pl_thundermountain in my opinion.

This seems to have fixed the problem. Thanks, shadow. :)
Mutlicore rendering is the suck.

It makes the performance WORSE for me...
Just how is that possible?

Yeah, makes everything more stuttery for me. Turning it off made everything run a lot more smoothly.
Multicore rendering improves my FPS. :raise:
It probably depends on the hardware combination of our machines. I've also send a bug report to valve. I hope they find it useful.
Vintage Jarate
