When I set them to a key they do not react to the button I set them to, any ideas, I would like to make TF2 almost completely playable with an n64 controller.
You sure it's not just +up? I don't know, but lookleft is just +left.
Much fun was had the day that was discovered
I'm fairly sure you need to set a command that enables "keyboard based" controls while unconnected, before those start responding.
Found it
"cl_mouselook" = "1"
client archive notconnected
- Set to 1 to use mouse for look, 0 for keyboard look. Cannot be set while connected to a server.
You know with a custom script setup that would load a new script every time you change class (like if you switch to spy it loads the spy script) you could get the game to work 100% with an XBOX controller.
Set 1 2 3 and 4 to UP DOWN LEFT RIGHT on the D pad for the Engineer to build and destroy shit.
Then use Pyro 3, Engineer 6, Sniper 8, and Spy 9 disguises only while Spy and you can disguise as them, and you might have a button left over after you assign everything else for "use last disguise" so you can switch weapons.
I believe no other class HAS extra buttons; they're all pretty much the same; duck, jump, reload, weapon up, weapon down, fire, alt fire...
As far as using an N64 controller, there is no way to play ANY class with as few buttons as the controller has. But you could use the same advice to make some classes more playable than others (get rid of Alt Fire while scout for Reload, get rid of Reload to get use last disguise for Spy, etc)

I thought they recently changed it not to require that.
