• Good fps but not smooth

Hello sorry to make a new thread, but I need help. Anyway, so tf 2 can run at a good 50-120 fps on my computer. But while I was watching a tf2 stream, it seemed way smoother, even though it was only 60 fps What I'm saying is in game it shows 120fps, but doesn't look as smooth as a60fps stream. How can I make my game smoother? Hopefully you understand what I am saying, and can help. Thanks!

If you can run tf2 at 1000 fps, what does it matter if your monitor maxes out at 250fps? If your monitor isn't the problem, try setting an FPS cap, so your frames are steady, and don't fluctuate as much.
cap your fps at 66 minimum (cause that's the server tickrate). if you get screen tearing use borderless windowed mode
sometimes it's actually the specs the server is hosted on that can result in jerky performance it's not always your fault
It's not jerky per say, It just doesn't have that "smooth" look/feel.how would I be able to assess server performance? I can use net_graph [editline]25th February 2013[/editline] Also how can I keep my frame rate more consistent? [editline]25th February 2013[/editline] And how can I know my monitor rate?

Somewhere in that menu should be some numbers like 60Hz or 75Hz or 9001Hz or 1337Hz or such. This is your monitor's refresh rate. You can tell your computer what refresh rate to use in your operating system's control panel.
if you enable Vsync it will lock your FPS at your refreshrate. although i'm not sure if vsync works correctly in TF2 anymore, so use it at own risk.
if you enable Vsync it will lock your FPS at your refreshrate. although i'm not sure if vsync works correctly in TF2 anymore, so use it at own risk.
vsync works correctly with tf2 and that's the problem. vsync makes your inputs (keyboard, mouse) lag and the game will probably feel a lot more jerky. do not ever use vsync is my recommendation. question to OP: is your game "not smooth" on every server? can you get a picture of your net_graph (set it to 4) when you experience the jerkyness? also, what monitor do you have?
Ok, my monitor is 60 Hz refresh rate.. I'm just confused. In game, even in a local server getting like 120 fps, it doesn't feel smooth Hopefully this explains what I mean my smooth http://www.twitch.tv/mangachu_/b/371416239
Wow, that is hella smooth. I dunno, is there motion interpolation or something like that on the stream?

That video doesn't look much different from when I get 60FPS, except the part when payload explodes, but that's caused by framerate drop. I also use chris' maxquality config, so that may be behind it as well.
I always found my FPS to look fairly damn smooth, but not on actual online servers unless they are insanely close to my region
