• Wheres our heavy gloves and spy suit?

I am sure most of you remember that about 3 months ago we got insight of valve using the community to play test things: on this list was a ubersaw nerf, a blutsuager nerf (but we got a needlegun buff), gloves that made the heavy faster when held (ala the CS knife) and a fire retardant suit for the spy. Well, I have not seen anything new about these, I was desperately anticipating the heavy gloves as well. So, what do you think happened? Anyone got a confirmed news source about whether they are still testing or scrapped?
I thought they were fake.
I thought they were fake.
They where confirmed by multiple testers with in game proof(screenshots): two of which where on my friends list. I have little reason to think they where fake.
They were just weapons that were used in the beta that VALVe was doing, I think. They don't even have their own models yet.

I believe that either they'll be released in an all-class patch later on, or that they were scrapped due to the testers' feedback. I would put my money more on the latter, myself.

They were only put into the beta for testing. Who knows if Valve will put one of them in-game one day or we will never see them again.
Well, I really am hoping on the heavy gloves. It will shorten the long walk from spawn to battle ground, which makes me hate being a heavy.
Some of this stuff would be awesome, like the fire retardant suit for the spy.
Some of this stuff would be awesome, like the fire retardant suit for the spy.
No revolver sounds awful
They were weapon concepts that were being tested, by the time those images were posted Valve was working on the fix for the ubersaw and blutsauger and thats it.
No revolver sounds awful
But not being spy-checked by Pyros seems like an equal balance.
L4D2 happened, that's what. Valve has pulled a lot of the TF2 team away from TF2 to make sure L4D2 is going to release and work on time.
Y'know, maybe the Suit should replace the Knife. Then Spies have a reaaaally tough decision- one hit kills, or no Pyros?
Y'know, maybe the Suit should replace the Knife. Then Spies have a reaaaally tough decision- one hit kills, or no Pyros?
That would make him a much more effective anti-engie class.
Y'know, maybe the Suit should replace the Knife. Then Spies have a reaaaally tough decision- one hit kills, or no Pyros?
The spies knife is extremely iconic to the spy. Spy with no knife is like a medic that can not heal, or a scout that walks at heavy speed.
Y'know, maybe the Suit should replace the Knife. Then Spies have a reaaaally tough decision- one hit kills, or no Pyros?
No pyros, or being useful?
If the ignite proof suit is real, I would probably continue having my revolver out and then switch to the suit if pyros start to become a problem. [editline]01:03PM[/editline]
The moment a Pyro sees you making hurt sounds when he torched you, you'll die just as fast as you did without the retardant suit due to the amount of damage they can do on closeups.
Most spychecking pyros I've seen just flail their flamethrower around and hope it sets someone on fire.
No pyros, or being useful?
This man knows how Spy works.
They were beta items. I thought everybody knew that.
Yeah, but everyone thinks beta items will end up in the full game. Like people still thinking scout will ever get the Nailgun
I think all those weapons will be in the next wave of unlockables (if any). VALVE isn't done with the first one yet (engineer and soldier are missing unlockables)
And Demo doesn't have unlocks either Reg
I wonder if we'll see the engineer's new stuff, the wrench that makes sentries and stuff build faster at the expense of being able to upgrade them.
This is information that I know and was stated in a different fashion in the OP. Bad reading?
Just because it was in a beta doesn't mean it'll be released, if you know this, then what's the point of the thread? You just answered your own question..
And Demo doesn't have unlocks either Reg
Forgot him
I don't really like the idea. I really just want the unlockable weapons to be the only thing that changes your (for lack of a better word) stats. Seeing as how both of these items apparently were meant to replace a weapon, I guess it's kind of the same thing. However, I have two problems with this. The first being that both the Spy and the Heavy have already had their updates, while several classes are still waiting for theirs. I'd rather have all the classes updated with weapons before even considering making other item slots. The second is that things passive items that aren't weapons replacing weapons hasn't exactly worked out that well before (by passive I mean not something you can pull out and use, like sandvich or bonk). The razorback is the only currently instated example of this, and it's pretty shitty as far as unlocks go. It's not really arguable that the SMG and Jarate are much more useful choices.
racist ban him
Funny.
