In the key binding menu there's an option called "Investigate" or something that lets you see what other players on your team have, like unlocks. If you use it on a enemy player, nothing shows up. Same goes with if you try it on a spy disguised as a friendly player. Is this a bug or something, and is it old? Just posted to see if anyone else knew about this.
Interesting, but all-in-all the more time you spend staring at your enemy the more time you give him to kill you or escape.
Or you can shoot him.
Seems like a lot of work to press a key over every friendly player.
Investigate? I thought they scrapped that.
It's called inspect. It exists, just not by default. You have to bind it to something.
Oh yeah, it was inspect. It may not be convenient, but it's useful sometimes and at least interesting.

shoot first, find out a second later. you can do all of these things:
-use Natascha on the player, if they slow down, they're a spy.
-burn them, if they light on fire, they're a spy
-airblast them, if they're a spy they'll fly back
-shoot grenades at them, the'll also fly back by this
-shoot and blow up pipebombs near them, they either die or, if they manaage to survive, they'll be blasted into the air/away from the explosion
-force of nature them, causing them to fly back.
-shoot rockets at them, either they die or get blasted away.
-walk into them, if you don't "phase" through them they're a spy
-if you walk towards them and they try to avoid you by moving to sides.
-sandman them, either you stun them or get your ball back.
-charge n' targe them (you just need the shield), if you bash them, you'll stop moving and they'll get hurt.
-(not advided) kill taunt them (perfect example is the heavy's fist-taunt that could kill from a long range)
thats all i can think of, really. theres a few more.
Actually, I can see use for this.
For example, if I'm out of primary ammo on Heavy, Soldier, and others, I would have no instant way to tell if a DISTANCED player is a spy (since I never choose shotgun for slot 2). I normally would ignore the potential spy since I have no quick way of checking. But with this, if I KNOW he's a spy, I would take the effort to run over to him with just melee, so at least my teammates don't get stabbed and hopefully see me fighting him.
I'm going to bind this to Mouse5, since I don't use it for anything else. Thanks for the tip!
normally good spy appear where you least expect or get you while you're by yourself. well that from what i experience.
yeah but theres like 1 million bad spies
this will allow you to instantly identify bad spies with 1 mouse click, even with no ammo.
awesome!

Thanks doctor common sense.
Are you sure this works? If I inspect a friendly spy then it shows up as him having all the items of the player he's disguised as.
Good spies don't run around disguised for too long anyway, they stay cloaked.

WRONG, disguised spies don't get affected by the FaN knockback, by the way fix your grammar.
This needs to be fixed. This is unfair, it is basically the same as a big "This guy is a spy" sign floating above the spys when you look at them.
I shall email Gabe.

No, they reenabled it.
This isn't a reliable method. If you have a player on your team with no items in his current loadout, nothing will show up when you inspect him.
-use Natascha on the player, if they slow down, they're a spy.
They removed the slowdown as disguised spy, I think
It still show up items on disguised spies.
No, they reenabled it.
so they added it, removed it and then added it back?
This could be extremely useful for snipers.
