If TF2 media wasn't tied to updates, how would it affect your interest in the game?

As time has passed since I first started playing the TF2, the story of major updates became more and more important to me, compared to the game-related stuff. Replays were awesome, but what really got me pumped was the fantastic Meet The Director. Last October, the comic pretty much was the update for me - the great game additions were the bonus.
It's the world of the game that pulls me in, really. I think, after 1000 hours, the game itself just doesn't stretch as far as it used to. Which is only natural, of course. But now that the short and ongoing comic series have been announced, it's got me curious.
Personally, I think a steady stream of TF2 stories might make me play the game less. I'd actually be willing to pay for the comics, but I think an ongoing series would satisfy my itch better than playing Dustbowl for the quadrillionth time.
Then again, maybe it'd actually be a good way to get you hooked on the world all over again. What do you guys think?
I would play less because I would be busy reading the comic :v:
To be blunt, I don't ever care about lore. Comics are just a one-time read so I get more in-depth with updates. The comics are something to look forward to, but won't impact my time playing TF2 personally.
Every available wall space has a framed poster, the plushies bookend my bookcase, half my YouTube subscriptions are from SFM creators and I spend a good chunk of each day in the MUS thread or in steam chat with TL getting hyped for comics and valve released shorts.
I am a fool for anything tf2.
I don't really care. I read the comics, but to me new maps and weapons are the most important part of any major update.
Tf2 lore and the comics/shorts are part of the reason I still play tf2, after 5 years of playing it :v:
One of the main reasons I love TF2 is because of how expanded the characters are.
