I tried using a 360 controller to play TF2 earlier.
It worked but it felt weird because I'm so used to mouse+keyboard and I couldn't play properly like that.
Welp guess I'm off tf2 until Monday unless I can manage to idle on this laptop tonight.

Yesterday Steam validates TF2 3 times and still I wasn't able to play, tried defragmenting, no luck, tried validating again, I got "Game is unavailable right now", restarted Steam, TF2 opened, 10 minutes later video card over heating constantly, after 4 alt-tabs TF2 crashes.
