Why would a rocket jumper skin cause my TF2 to crash upon joining a server?

The Rocket Jumper skin has an outdated item_game.txt or something like that.
It causes you to not see certain items in the game if you use it, such as the Halloween event hats. Because it's not updated to hold the data for those items.

Thus, when you join a server, you crash instantly. Because the game attempts to load up the data for items that don't appear to be in the item_game.txt
