• About my new map for VSH, also VPKs and fastdl.

Hi people, some might remember me from the Emporium but I call myself a mapper more than a modeller. So here I present you the Palanquin Ship! A new map for VSH that I spent the last 5 months to create. I focused on it being a fun map to play on, and looking good. The feedback I got from the test was rather positive, so I decided to publish its final release, and made that timelapse video: [Media]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MHMbDkMBgBY[/Media] However, shortly after putting the map online, I got word that VPKs couldn't be downloaded off fast DL. Which basically means that every player needs to download the map directly off TF2maps.net or Game Banana, in shorts, that server admins won't put the map on their servers. So tell me, do you know if a fix is going to exist anytime soon? Or if I'd better hurry and release a v2 using PakRat instead of VPK? And I finally thought that Steam Pipe was a good thing...
HOLY SHIT Thats got to be THE best VSH map I've ever seen! (And in the video, there were Community Sparkles on that other heavy you were on the beam with, what did he make?)

Here's a fact: the Source Engine wasn't designed for giant ships flying in the sky.

Then maybe keep the outside of the ship as normal brushes and then everything inside as func_detail while making the props have a set draw distance.
This map lowers my framerate, noticeably cutting it half when I run it, even in single player mode. Disabling weather effects does nothing to help. Which is a shame, because this map looks really good.
I'm lucky I have a good computer, because this is a damned sexy map. IP's for servers currently running this?
