A thread, were we overly bored-when-we-aren't-bashing-Gamebanana users come to relive memories of the good ol' days.... IT MUST BE PRE-2011. Going on good ol' TFC fun servers, hoping around on matclub, or k_thegame. Good times... I really miss a lot of peeps from those days. TFC LIFE So tell us your stories, or one of them as we go back as far as we can remember in TF games.
Times before Mann-conomy update. Oh and your thread title is ridiculously dumb - TF2, TFC, or any other game, but still TF. It's only Classic or 2, actually.

hgh TFC i spent probably a quarter of my life playing that game
I remember watching Meet the Spy with my brother on Youtube some time around 2009-10. I thought it was cool and then I went back to doing whatever I was doing then since we didn't have a computer at the time.
before hat rage
Seeing how much the spy has been Buffed since the Heavy Update
Pre-2011 seems kinda early to be truly "good ole days," to me anyway I miss the humor of the game before items, or at least during the first few updates. It's not like TF2 was ever serious but it wasn't as outright silly.
cp_bestinclass_v2 When i was still learning tf2, that was my favorite custom map, now servers hosting it dissapeared...
2011 seemed to be a good year for TF2. It was the rise of the commentators, and there were frequent updates back then. TF2 went to shit mid 2012-2013.
Using the dispenser to blow people up.
Pre hats was good times....
I miss those Blog Posts with "JUST GOT SIGNED BY SAXTON HALE".
Play on the Gamefaqs server in 2008 when I first got the game, had good maps, players, and overall was just a lot of fun
Back in the day when the hats were simple and had simple names with funny one-liners as descriptions.... ...But now they are huge complicated things with 3 paragraph long shitty descriptions describing things like how oil was invented and how birds will peck through your hat and why robro doesn't turn off.

Also key prices blah blah.
The Engineer update. People (including myself) went crazy and went achievement farming to get those cool new weapons. And boy were those weapons Cool, wrangler for manually aiming sentries, southern hospitality for making poor spies bleed, frontier justice for crits and of course the Gunslinger, with it's new minisentry which was by far the best part of the update. A bit of a shame that the minisentry slowly got more annoying as time went by, it was so game-changing for the engineer when it was added.
i remember when i pirated tf2 back in 2008 and the very first thing i did was to check the taunts on hydro.
i remember when i pirated tf2 back in 2008 and the very first thing i did was to check the taunts on hydro.
Why?
I remember the first time I played on a custom map, it being a mario kart map, where you left all the "srsness" of having to cap briefcases and points to just screwing around as a scout going on top of the giant building in the center. It was also the first time I had an item drop, it being a razorback and me being all excited because I found a sniper weapon which took achievements to get and me not being a decent sniper.
I still remember, how I went to buy a license copy after 1 year of a piracy (yes, it's a shame =( ). I had to went 2 km to the nearest gameshop, and I still remember, how I went back to home with the glorious CD in my bag... Damnit, I am crying from memories right now!
My story is long and boring. But here it is anyways: -Get retail copy of TF2 in October 2008 from goddess-like parental figure (mommy ;3) -Play game, some updates roll out. (Heavy, Medic and Pyro, although IIRC they were already out but it was still so much fun to spend hours farming and dueling to get the achievements and items) -December 2008: commit scumbaggy minor theft of using grandmother's credit card to put money onto steam account (I paid her back ok) -start neglecting steam because of guilt, even though debt was paid -mid 2009: play game for short amount of time because new Scout update and it was fun. ( I missed out on the hats though QQ) -completely lose contact with steam account and tf2 until... -CHRISTMAS SEASON 2011: receive computer from godlike (not god-sized, he's 5'6 and a half hehehehe) parental figure... It was my dad. -play the living Shitey McDitey out of TF2 on F2P account but then get bored because lack of excitement and bank account & credit card on F2P account -February 2012: receive access to old 2008 account with GMod, HL2 and TF2 on it and play it but stop because school is an important thing -June 2012 - Present: Pyromania happened, got back into it and now I am not AT ALL dissapointed with my choices to play again. not that long, but also not that interesting.
Man, TF was the shit back in the day.

The heavy duty rag has a horrid ass description.
The time in TF2 were the only mapas running on servers were Hydro, Gravelpit and 2fort back in late 2007. Or playing TFC dustbowl.
I prefered TF2 before they stated adding new weapons and items, it was just a lot simpler and more fun back then Although I do enjoy MvM, most memorable was when they had the insane challenge for halloween and having failed the level so many times we made it to the final tank and just missed out on completing it by 1-2 seconds, then never got close again
[t]http://static.comicvine.com/uploads/original/8/80103/2865057-chess_board.jpg[/t] This was the shit. Regular balance updates every other century, great community, generally very fun to play.
First time i got gibus. That was like 1 hour after i installed it
tc_hydro, only 90s kids will remember :)
When i found Laser weapons (You know, Machina, Cowmangler, Pompson, etc...) i got extremely happy.
