I hope this is the case, and it sounds like something Valve would do. Also bring back leveled items, at least for those that were there at the time of the leveled items (silver badges, i think).

I crafted everything I don't actually use.
Feels like a weight lifted man.
I realized that's what the golden wrench was for immediately after I saw the blog post and only crafted the items that I never, ever use. Luckily, there's a lot that I never, ever use, so I have about a refined metal just from that stuff.
One of my friends told me he crafted EVERYTHING.
And no wrench.
I reassured him he, like many other people, are complete morons.
He agreed.
Hope valve doesn't incorporate microtransactions to buy items/austratlium. :(
