Via HLDS:
Thank you bug fixes!
- Fixed Medics seeing the incorrect string when trying to heal a target with the Escape Plan equipped I emailed them about this when it was split. Took long enough.
- Updated the Short Circuit - Damage lowered - Consumes 15 metal per projectile destroyed - Can no longer fire underwater - Fixed a bug with orphaned particles
Because being able to fire underwater was so helpful.
short circuit nerfed thank you merciful christ
I was under the impression the Short Circuit already couldn't be fired underwater?
- Fixed Medics seeing the incorrect string when trying to heal a target with the Escape Plan equipped I emailed them about this when it was split. Took long enough. Because being able to fire underwater was so helpful.
But does it mean it costs 15 metal to fire, or does it cost 5 metal to fire, and cost an extra 15 metal every time a projectile is destroyed?
You consume more metal for destroying projectiles now?
- Updated the Short Circuit - Damage lowered - Consumes 15 metal per projectile destroyed - Can no longer fire underwater - Fixed a bug with orphaned particles
Ding Dong the witch is dead!
You consume more metal for destroying projectiles now?
you get about a second less of electric spam (it doesnt change anything)
So they made the Short Circuit less spammy? That's all good in my book. All they really need to do for me? Make the overall firing noise a LITTLE quieter. That's more a personal request, but hey.
short circuit nerfed. strange wrangler updated. time to start using my strange wrangler :D
you get about a second less of electric spam (it doesnt change anything)
- Damage lowered
"-Added the ability to change an item's style in the class loadout menu" there is a god
I feel like that's an overnerf to the Short Circuit. Couldn't they have just lowered the damage if not completely remove it being able to deal damage and it would've been fine? The biggest problem with it was that it was good for both utility and damage, if the Engie can't hurt people with it then it's purely a utility-based weapon and I think that would've been a good thing.
short circuit nerfed thank you merciful christ
lmao you call that a nerf It's still insanely overpowered and fucking stupid. I don't want new weapons if Valve thinks that shit is balanced. I want the old short circuit back. The one that required, you know, SKILL to use correctly.
Because being able to fire underwater was so helpful.
I am rather doubtful of this, but a lot of players mentioned the Short Circuit basically turning into the Lightning Gun from Quake. When the Lightning Gun is fired underwater, the player is instantly killed. Maybe it was just a nod to that.

A solider or demo has more ammo in their rockets/stickies than you did metal back then. Even if you we're next to a dispenser the old Short Circuit only bought you some time.
Lowered damage, meaning you're not going to reduce a heavy down to 15% health within seconds. More metal lost upon destroying projectiles, meaning you can't just solo a soldier and force them to go on the defensive. I'd say that's pretty damn balanced given what it can do now. Edit: Ninja'd.

Maybe it was just a nod to that.
"Cannot fire when wet" Wouldn't even be a good downside since the jars are projectiles already. Really is it that hard to retcon some unnecessary buffs so they can work around the low-cost use but slow-firing instead?

The one that required, you know, SKILL to use correctly.
You mean the one that you probably never even used in the first place? :v: Nobody ever used it because it was outclassed by things like the Pistol and Wrangler. I also don't know where you get this "SKILL" from anyways considering that the very weapons it was supposed to defend against still easily overpowered it. It was more luck than anything.
Item server down?
You mean the one where you'd be shitting yourself with an inevitable loss with? A solider or demo has more ammo in their rockets/stickies than you did metal back then. Even if you we're next to a dispenser the old Short Circuit only bought you some time.
The firing speed on the thing is the biggest problem, not the ammo required.
You mean the one that you probably never even used in the first place? :v: Nobody ever used it because it was outclassed by things like the Pistol and Wrangler.
Then fucking nerf already the Wrangler, remove that atrocious shield.
