I personally would love if valve made a story mode for TF2. It could be a set of missions but each pushes the story forward.
It would be realy interesting.
Added poll.
.....As much as i like the game...i don't feel a single player is necessary.
Definitely. It'd be :krad2:
Yeah, Doing missions for the Annoucer, although Inb4 the " it'll be to much of an RPG"
I guess, just TF2 was build to be a Muliplayer game, and having a good story mode would take a lot of tweaks.
Maybe go back to Redmond and Blutarch youth?
TF2 has a big enough official back story, though I think making a story mode would be best left for a mod.
Normandy landings, TF2-style. (Playing as the soldier of course.)
This game has a rich backstory, and could be well explored if given a singleplayer mode.
It's not really a campaign kind of game ;/
Too late for a singleplayer mode now, bot practice is enough singleplayer content and besides a quarter of the fun in TF2 is just from coming up with mad ideas for how the world works if a story explained it all where would the fun in the world be?
I don't really like the idea, there's just something wrong with playing TF2 singleplayer.
It'd be good fun, and interesting to see how they play it out.
But truthfully, i want valve to stick to Multiplayer, to completely finish it, updates, hats and all, before they go onto single. Which they will when they run out of ideas.
As long as it isn't like Condition Zero. It needs real-time animations and singleplayer experience, much like Half-Life 2.
It's never gonna happen though. (Although I'd love to be proved wrong.)
Would be cool if it at least had back stories for the mercs. Like a level of the Soldier in his youth fighting Germans. Then have a tie in with the Medic story.
Maybe when Team Fortress 3 comes out, but yeah, I'd love one.
I guess team fortress 3 will be using Source engine 2.0, the same they'll be using with portal 2?
Sounds reasonable, but i don't think they will be able to keep TF2's unique feel if valve do that.
As long as no updates are delayed, Sure!.
There will never be a TF3, they'll just keep updating this one with new content. Seriously, there's been enough content added since the initial release of TF2 to make two sequels to it. And, when they DO stop working on it, they'll just keep a team of 2-3 people to implement community weapons and updates periodically instead.
Well, the thing is, it has an amazing story by any standards, but especially for a multiplayer deathmatch game. That's just it, though; it is a multiplayer game, which is reflected in its gameplay and nearly everything else. A story mode would be awesome, but I don't know how well it'd work.
Can't you just put "yes" and "no" in the poll options? I know you're trying to make it look cool but it looks retarded.
I love story modes but I think it wouldn't work well in TF2. You know, it wouldn't make sense to have the Scout fighting a clone of himself and actually commenting on it. He does make jokes about it in the actual game, but with a storyline and a context for him to say that, it wouldn't look/sound good.
As somebody already pointed out - TF2 + singleplayer sounds quite unusual.
I'm not really getting turned on by playing missions as a slowly moving heavy with 3 weapons. Or as a too fast moving scout.
Singleplayer mode would require a strong man with a strong personality.
That means the story mode's main character would be.....
SAXTON HALE
And I have to admit, that actually sounds good. Only a little bit too overpowered.
THIS WAS MY IDEA FIRST.
Since a friend of mine bought TF2 (On July of 2009) I was telling him theres a story mode, with 200 levels, that when you finish it, you get a GOLDEN MINIGUN. A couple days later, like more 10 friends of mine started to tell him the same, and he's still searching for it. Just some info, when I told him about it, I didnt even know about the golden minigun theory, LOL.
It would be bs IMO, the classes won't be interesting(except the spy).
If you got to play as Saxton Hale then yes.
I would like it if it were good.
I would not like it if it were not good.
No.
