SPUF i take it was "hacked" by someone called Sputn1k_ and it now redirects to his twitter account. judging by the feed on his name, he's taken down other low security forums before, like the Yogscast's and CubeWorld's
It's still there for me.
They're temporarily offline, too bad not permanently.

chances are, it went offline because of the mentioned problem
before it linked to THIS twitter
Down for "scheduled maintenance"
Hahaha, sure Valve. Sure.
neat!
What I like, is that it seems like this guy is actually saying how he hacked it, so the devs can fix their loopholes.
This thread would be better in the Valve/Steam/Powerplay subforum. Just for future reference.
Who's Sputnik already? i already heard this name before...
The Steam Forums are temporarily offline for scheduled maintenance.
And nothing of value was lost.

wow, he hacks people's forums, then asks them to contact him to get better security?
That's... one way to get clients, I guess.
My computer engineering teacher taught us about this sort of thing. It's a method some hackers like to use to get jobs. They hack into a company's website to show off their skills and the liabilities of the webstie, and then they ask if they'd like help fixing it. It's a risky technique in that you can impress a people with it or piss them off very much.

Seems like a cool guy, and certainly talented, but he needs a more mature twitter picture if he's going to be redirecting pissed off users and potential customers to it.

hey op, I'm not usually the guy going in tinfoil hat mode, but it's very suspicious that you made an account just to post this, and you're the only one who linked to his Twitter.

That's like a cartel demanding you pay them for protection or they murder you.

It's still better than a black hat
you guys stole all the hat jokes already >:|
People who abuse 0days like this are awful people.
There are also those who use known vulnerabilities on old software, I have a fire prepared for them too.
Not to mention that 90% of these are where someone bribes someone for a password, and then gets the company to pay them to tell them that.
