I don't know the solution to your problem, but it's a possibility that someone used your account and used it. (exact thing happened to my alts)

Well that's always good, never give your account information to someone you don't trust, or even to people you do trust, because they're prone to break into your account and use the key you REALLY wanted to use to try to feel happy again but noo, they used it on business for "me".

Check your backpack here: [url]www.tf2b.com[/url] and see if the key is still around. Sometimes items can get 'trapped underneath' other items by accidentally being placed in the same slot and thus hidden from view in-game. If it's still there then it will show up in a backpack viewer as being in an invalid slot.
