• So which is in your opinion the best scout weapon?

I'm only talking about the first weapons. So which is it? Scattergun, FaN or the shortstop Discuss Oh and also. I'm guessing many people will say "it depends on the situation" but in this poll you can only choose one. And when you discuss them. Think like this: If you only could choose one to play with, which o e would it be?
Vanilla scout es best scout
Each has their own uses, as a career Scout I switch between all of them. Scattergun is a good all-rounder, preforms well in most any situation, but doesn't particularly excel in any area either. FaN is good if you're being accosted by Pyros or if there are places on the map reachable only by triple or quad jumping. A great pair with the pistol naturally. An excellent pair with Bonk! too! (Folks in the know, know why.) Shortstop... I have a love/hate relationship with... It ALMOST feels like a Scout easy-mode at times. But it's particularly suited for killing heavies and especially sentries. Honestly it's the best weapon for it as a scout in my opinion. A very good pair with Crit-a-cola, as well as a Kritzkreig (Not that you'll ever get one.).
If we only talk about primary weapons, Scattergun About the others, Pistol and Boston Basher
The scattergun. I dislike the shortstop because it's good only at spamming at medium range for harassing, while beeing seen. Your goal is more likely to flank without beeing spotted, to kill a key target and run. (Or to eliminate enemy scouts). It's cool on spammy games where you can't/don't succeed at flanked. You could change class then. The FAN is pretty meh, it's only good in some occasions where you can ambush, for even quicker attacks. If it's spammy at the point you need to fire those 2 shots that quickly to hope having a chance, you should better choose an other class. It's a bit better to blast pyros or players stupid enough to run in front to your face again and again while getting blasted away. FaN jumping is fun but it's not making it into a good weapon in my opinion.
Scattergun kicks so much ass it's untrue.
Scattergun, good all-rounder. I don't mind using the FaN when there're Natascha Heavies around. Or to quick roam my way when carrying the intel. As a secondary I always have my BONK! Atomic Punch equipped. Damn useful.
While I love the scattergun for most situations, the extra range of the shortstop makes it king.
scatter gun is the most consistant
Vanilla scout is the best scout
Agreed, sometimes Sandman, But Vanilla scout best. Same with Demoman. Pi post :buddy: (My 314 post)
Agreed, sometimes Sandman, But Vanilla scout best. Same with Demoman.
This. But I ussualy like to use the ScoRes or the Pain Train / Caber on Demo
Vanilla represent, etc.
Vanilla scout represent! The only non vanilla weapon I use is boston basher, some times.
Shortstop because I enjoy being able to reload the whole clip at once.
Scattergun.
Scattergun.
Scattergun.
Vanilla with occasional sandman time.
Vanilla scout es best scout
I actually think this is highly debatable with Mad Milk in the mix now. I know the pistol is (said to) have a lot of uses, but I could never get the hang of it. It always felt too weak at a distance, where it's primarily used. Mad Milk, on the other hand, has saved me countless times, and let me get through longer battles where I fight 2 or even 3 people in a row or at once.
The Scattergun is by far the best weapon due to the fact that it can be used effectively in almost all situations. You can destroy the opponent at medium-close range while jumping and doing flips all around him and make a quick retreat while still covering you back. The fact of the matter is, the FAN is just too specific to certain strategies and spots on the map to be effective in a fast paced game such as TF2. Sure, it's great for that ambush spot around the corner at Badwater, and it's the best thing for blowing a Heavy off a cliff. But you'll only ever be able to use it once or twice on a map before it becomes useless. You need to get right in an enemy's face for it to do enough damage to actually kill him before he can kill you. The problem with that is that if the Heavy you're attacking decided to give you a knuckle sandvich, you're not going to last long. The Scattergun, on the other hand, it good for attacking the enemy right in the butter zone: not to close but not too far away. The Shortstop is just ass unless you're a mega pro or you're aimbotting. You're going to miss 80% of your shots if you get close and if you stay back the majority of your bullets are going to miss. I guess the quick reload was supposed to make up for it, but the soldier who just took 2 damage points from your measly shot halfway across the map isn't going to care, and if you decide to get closer for a better shot, you're going to get a quick rocket to the face.
I switch depending on how I am playing (and if I can hit anything.) Same goes for the other slots, too, except I find the stun invaluable and keep that equipped 99% of the time.
Scattergun. Useful for fighting off enemys from behind. Not launching them so they are closer to their destination. My loadout is Scattergun, Lugermorph and Candy Cane
Scattergun. Dat lever action!
Why is the Holy Mackerel not an option? ;_; Anyway, I'd say Scattergun in most situations. The Shortstop, however, provides some invaluable long-range capability if you've swapped your pistol out for a drink; furthermore, if you're trying to be more of an irritating distraction than an actual threat, its quick reload lets you keep shooting for essentially as long as you want.

It's almost as bad as the Scattergun. It's too big of a spread to be effective. It's almost like they made the spread just too big for long range, yet just too small for close range.
Scattergun by far. The shortstop is nigh useless, with it's small damage, and the Force a Nature is greatly inhibited by it's two-bullet magazine.

It's not a long-range weapon by any means, but it can do decent damage at better ranges than the shotguns.

The Shortstop is a waste of a primary weapon. If you want an annoyance weapon, look no further than the incredible Pistol. It can snipe from afar with great accuracy and it shoots and reloads fast enough to keep the pressure on.
Scattergun, but the Shortstop is a close second for me.
Shortstop, if you can aim well. High damage output in optimal dodging range with Scout's high speed makes you a very tough opponent.
