The gunslinger brings a new gameplay style.
You now have 150 hp, which means you dont die as easily. So whats the combat strategy?
-Find an enemy.
-Deploy a super fast sentry.
-As the sentry shoots him, blast him with your shotgun. If he destroys your sentry, you now have a free crit, if your using the frontier justice, just give him a crit shotgun blast in the face.
-If he decides to try to kill you, retreat while your sentry kills him.
Now that you killed the guy, you got 2 things:
-A free crit, because of the sentry kill
-A dropped weapon. Pick up his weapon, you just got 100 metal.
Now just keep going, either pick up your sentry or destroy it and make a new one ahead.
Use the tactics above to fight any oposition you find on your way.
-When you find a nice spot, build a teleporter exit and a dispenser. This allows your team mates to get to the frontlines quicker.
Now go play, have fun : D
The gunslinger isn't useless. It brings a new playstyle that allows you to survive on your own, and help your team.
Engi with gunslinger reminds me of one of them cheesy classes from RPG with summons and shit.

Atlast! Rise sentry, RISE!
Sounds nice. Sort of reminds of the summon undead spells from oblivion, but yeah I like the looks of this.
Is it worth Ubering an Engineering with one?
do you get crits with the frontier justice even if your sentry didn't get any kills/assists before it was destroyed? If you don't, that renders it pretty ineffective for the playstyle OP describes.
Imagine this: A medic gettings an uber while an engineer builds a level 3 SG. The engineer picks it up. The medic then ubers him and they both run behind the enemy and plant the SG there.
Gunslinger owns and allows more room to play as offensive engi. I love it

Unfortunately, the airblast will prevent you from getting too far behind them, if the team's got any good pyros.

The revenge crits are awarded when the sentry is destroyed. If it killed 1 person, when it gets destroyed (By you or an enemy) you get 1 revenge crit, and so on.
Damn. Battle Engineer is awesome

You get 2 crits on a sentry kill.
So when you get free crits with the Frontier Justice, do they stay with you until you die, or do you have to use them immediately?
If you break your own sentry you get the revenge crits.
Also the taunt kill for it is awesome.
These tactics are awesome. I have to try me out some battle Engi.

they stay until you die.
gunslinger's INCREDIBLE
the ability to just spam these ninja sentries is annoying as shit to the other team. I love it.
That's the fun of it. The mini sentries are to be ambush emplacements, not defense as you cannot repair them. :v:

No, he wouldn't unless he got a previous assist or kill with the sentry, which you didn't mention. In the scenario that you just deployed it and nothing else is mentioned, he would not get a free crit from it simply being destroyed.
The wrangler is pretty lol. On 2fort just get a level 3 sentry in their sewers and just spam like crazy. Not to mention the shield is an added bonus.
I usually just go around with a packed mini-sentry(deploys in 2 seconds), if an enemy shows up I deploy it and go punch happy on him, usually the enemy is distracted by the sentry(they see it as a priority target) so they don't see you coming with the punches.
Has worked many times.
I'm kinda disappointed with it...Maybe I just need more training...I love using Wrangler + lvl 3 sentry though...I'm gonna go train some more with the gunslinger.
I have a dilemma now though.
I can't decide whether to use the Pistol or the Wrangler :S
engineer deploys super-fast-minisentry,it has no chance to even deploy properly, since soldier blasts it with bout three rockets or 2,and engineer with fj...well he just dies.
Default shotty would be wiser with minisentry
You know, when I originally saw the shotgun and the glove, I thought they'd be absolute shit.
And I was absolutely wrong. They fucking rock.

I suggest using a pistol when you have Frontier Justice equipped, and Wrangler when you have normal shotgun.
After several hours of using it I think I finally got how to use it correctly. You almost have to play as a spy using a shotgun. Hide behind your enemies then blow their fucking brains out while your sentry does extra damage. Or just ambush them in hard to see areas.

and I find it absolutely hilarious running around punching the shit out of people.
