A little help please? Problems with adding friends

I have no idea where the hell to put this thread. I checked and nothing really fit the description. Anyway, I'm having problems adding a friend. I added him, and this happens:

This happens a lot, and it really gets on my nerves.. Is there any way to fix it?

(if you didn't notice, under invitations sent, it says the guy is on tf2. It shouldn't be under "invitations sent" )

Its not a glitch. It happens if there profile is public. Happens all the time.
YOU CAN MESSAGE HIM! But he has to accept.

Not quite correct. It only happens if the other person is in a group that you are also in and has less than 250 members.

Nope. It'll die. Also this was definitely not the right place for this thread, for reference, the Technical Support or Valve forums would be better.
