Is there an actual way of knowing the correct value of items?

Well, i made this thread asking if there is a website or something with advice for the value of items?
Lately Ive been coming across a ton of people that have ridiculous offers! For example, not long ago i was in a trade with a player on a trade server, he had a Non V. Merryweather! Well, i decided to trade with him, i offered him many items but still, it wasn't enough!
Now i offered him refined, i asked him "How much?"
Now this is the ridiculous part, he told me he was considering how much it's worth and decided he wanted 7-8 refined! And he sadly wasn't trolling, he said he needs to "check", and I need to ask, where does he check?
If there isn't a place where you can, why doesnt someone make one?
I know this may not be thread worthy but i though it should be brought to some people's attention!

You can't bash on someone for trying to get the most out of his items. It's worth that much to the right person.
As of a value list, I can't find it right now.
He may had doubted about trading it, so until he got a second opinion, he gave you a ridiculous offer that any1 would accept and left.
Or there is some place that you can check prices and no1 wants to tell you about it. :3
The value is in the eyes of the beholder.
Everyone has different opinion, but here's a general idea

Honestly took a few google searches.
Good luck buying one you want for that price, though.
why cant people just value items depending on weather they want it or not, it's not a trading game and the point of trying to get 24 hats for a single class when you can only wear one is beyone me.
anyway the point is to just value it on if your going to wear it (high value) or trade it (lower value), then hope that your trade parnter is able to negotiate instead of going "lolololol stpid nub thts nt wth it!!!"(your trade parnter cancelled)
My non-vintage gray tosslecap is worth too much for me, same goes for golden football helmet and purple bonnet, also the hatless engi nonvintage is too damn awesome
dont give a shit about the real values though. why would you?

Ugh, that spreadsheet is evil. For the longest time I've seen people go on about that spreadsheet and they were almost always the d-bags that defined hats being 0.5 of this hat or that hat being 3.0 of that one.

Well, i did wait long enough for him to make another offer, but he did not change it.
Hats like Trophy Belt, Mining Light and Soldier's Stash aint valuable but for me they are because i like them and they're simple and perfect.
There are no correct value but what the community gives them.
Example, Max head is not appealing to most, but is somehow almost the rarest hat there is, simply because the community deemed it so.
It's barter. There is no correct value.
I agree with value being in the eye of the beholder, when I crafted my first random hat, I got a tosslecap, I almost instantly got a vintage Triboniophorus Tyrannus for it.
Hell I even traded an NV bucket hat for a Vintage Vintage Merryweather, and then traded that for a vintage Ushanka.
Needless to say, everyone walked away happy.
TF2 trading has no rules. You make your own.

After every trade the items rise in value because people want to make profit.

Gotta say I got some luck in trading. Never put any effort to it but i got to trade some random hats to Vintage Gleng Bonnet in Purple and vintage Football helmet. Crafted tosslecap too. plus paints
i still want either spy noir the cool new hat or billycock
Suppose there isn't really a 'Value' of items in TF2, its a mixture of opinion, greed and how much someone wants something.
If i like a hat more than the hat ive got to trade, then i will trade it, dont really care if its 'worth more' because there is no official currency.
But yea, i would say a standard hat is 'worth' 1 refined :P
My value is how much I value my items, not how a fucktarded community values my items.

Well put
If you have the time:
Post your item in tf2tp for a price you know is low (say, Vintage Tyrant's Helm for 2 refined)
Watch the offers roll in.
Change the price up a bit. Keep repeating up and down until you get offers very rarely. That's about a bit lower than the "real" price for the item.
There's no set value. Some hats are valued by some and hated by others. The only guarantee is that Vintage is worth more than Non-vintage.
I think there was a website where it put two random hats together and you chose which one was worth more, in an attempt to "rate" the hats. However, it got majorly trolled to the point that the Alien Parasite was more valuable than half of the others.
TF2 Trading uses a Barter System, meaning that you barter items for other items, instead of a currency. The problem with barter is that it means to one individual the price of something will always be different. So no, there is no official value and the idea of making one is absurd.
On non trade servers most hats you can get 1:1 with another hat.

And I thought it was unnecessarily rude, than I noticed all of the agrees. So I rated agree too.

I find this endlessly interesting. Please, don't mind me, go on.

what a completely unnecessary post
what a completely unnecessary post
This is a completely unnecessary thread seeing as anyone who believes in actual item values are dumb and that anything can go for anything depending on the traders.

I have no choice but to agree.
At the start of trading, i thought everything would be around 1:1. Everything.
So i traded my earbuds for a hat.
Any attempt to value items is retarded. That spreadsheet makes me want to throttle a cat.
There is no set value, but there's a general community feel.
It's a good idea to find one trade server that you enjoy, and see if the prices are right. On one trade server, I find earbuds being 8-12 refined. Another? 14-18.
To each his own I guess.
