http://www.teamfortress.com/post.php?id=14982
The TF2 Workshop now has a voting queue! The upgraded queue should make it a lot easier for you to discover new and interesting items to vote on, and will help us get a broader sense of which items you most want to see in-game. The TF2 Workshop home page has also gotten a redesign. It should now be much easier to browse through new items created by authors you follow, see what your friends are marking as favorites, and read about recent Workshop news from the TF2 team. Workshop authors: Be sure to mark your sets as "sets" in the "edit collection" page, since this will change how your items are now showcased! One last reminder: Don't forget to vote on Tomb Raider items, now available in a handy new landing page thanks to the redesign.
Not worth making a thread for
Haha, the comment section doesn't appear when you first click on an item anymore. You have to actively seek out the ascii art spam fest.
everyone is going to click yes anyway. the workshop is a cesspool of idiots.
everyone is going to click yes anyway. the workshop is a cesspool of idiots.
The changes have already resulted in an increase of downvotes for me.
I thought this meant styles were finally gonna be a thing now, sadly its just a webpage layout change.
The changes have already resulted in an increase of downvotes for me.
I think that's a good thing tbh. It lets you better know what is liked and not liked. Before there was this blanket 90-95% upvote rate that meant nothing, while views and ratings were what determined success. Now that items are getting more fair exposure, we can expect the upvote percentage to be more representative of popularity.
Really not a fan of the removal of 'Top Rated All Time'. Now its gonna be even more of a pain to find old submissions. The other changes like the queue and removal of thumbs and stars don't bother me though.
I really love that they've gotten rid of star ratings. I feel like people may be a bit more objective in their voting now, instead of following the same votes as everyone else.

"Top Rated All Time" was removed because Valve felt guilty about all the amazing, highly beloved items they steadfastly refuse to add.
"Top Rated All Time" was removed because Valve felt guilty about all the amazing, highly beloved items they steadfastly refuse to add.
You do have to wonder why, though.
You do have to wonder why, though.
They probably thought it unnecessary because valve is aware of what's most popular and having it openly displayed did nothing but promote people yelling at valve WHY ISNT THIS ADDED YEEEEEEEEEEEEEET
They probably thought it unnecessary because valve is aware of what's most popular and having it openly displayed did nothing but promote people yelling at valve WHY ISNT THIS ADDED YEEEEEEEEEEEEEET
That's not what I meant. I meant why do these blatantly amazing, fitting of TF2, everyone wants them in items seem to just never get acknowledged by Valve?
That's not what I meant. I meant why do these blatantly amazing, fitting of TF2, everyone wants them in items seem to just never get acknowledged by Valve?
Most high rating cosmetics have been accepted, those that havent are probably just reasons based on valve trying to hold them off for better times As for weapons we know they supposedly "frequently experiment with workshop items and stats" so it's HOPEFULLY just them holding off for something even though i've lost all hope that that's true and it's more likely they're lazy as fuck and choose 1-2 as they go
That's not what I meant. I meant why do these blatantly amazing, fitting of TF2, everyone wants them in items seem to just never get acknowledged by Valve?
I would LOVE it if there was some threshold of votes that would trigger a comment from Valve. Like, once something got couple thousand votes they'd leave a comment saying it's being considered, or identifying problems with it. Just something to acknowledge they are aware of it, but I guess that would give people too much false hope.
Haha, the comment section doesn't appear when you first click on an item anymore. You have to actively seek out the ascii art spam fest.
really? they couldn't just implement a filter for that shit? because honestly, the most annoying part of the comment section IS the spam. most of the non-spam comments, while silly, are good for a laugh(sometimes) besides, i like looking at the promo pics while thinking of how to comment. I'm not digging the queue either. When I browse the workshop, I usually click on the ones that interest me, up-vote them if I like them and ignore the rest. I suspect that people might be voting "no" to get undesired queue items out of the way more than anything else.
That system is actually great in my opinion, people will really give their own opinion on something. (forgot the 99 % upvotes) Even tought, it will make a large number of downvotes.
I think this change is as awful as all the youtube changes that google does.

Remove the no button, and instead only have "Upvote" or "Next in queue" It will shuffle unread ones into a separate tab where you can revisit but they won't reappear in your regular queue. This way you can judge items by how many upvotes they have. If they pull in less votes, then obviously it's less priority.
I feel the reason why the new workshop system is causing more down-votes is like this: -the old one you could thumbs up or thumbs down, meaning you could simply say you like the item. And you could favorite it if you want it in-game. -the current system specifically asks "would you like to see this item in game?" which leads to more down votes than before, where as some people could like an item but not want it in-game, and now people say no because they just wouldn't want it in game but they might still like the item itself.

The queue allows people to vote on way more items then before. As a result items that people normally ignore get voted on. Before the queue, voting was a bit more tedious (especially in the steam client), so I only voted on items I really wanted to vote up (or really wanted to vote down). Now I can quickly vote for everything, even thing I used to ignore, and things I would've ignored get down voted. Whether this is a good or bad thing remains to be seen, but I think it's probably gonna be a good. This new system will give Valve a better idea of what people want in the game. (The removal of 'top rated all time' still sucks though)

Really digging the queue system. I'm getting to see loads of items I never knew about. It's also giving me a craving for new weapons though, which is of course a fool's dream.
Feels weird rating submitted comp badges.
The workshop system is all about getting items in game though.
you're giving workshop voters too much credit
Actually, if you ignore the ACSII art, a lot of the voters comments and votes do actually matter since whomever is in charge looks at what gets the most attention, and if people are actively voting items up and down instead of just ignoring the stuff they don't seem to like, that's more incentive for somebody to look at what's actually good.
