http://www.teamfortress.com/post.php?id=14564
It was one of the tightest Saxxy races we've ever had, with a lot of heated debate here at Valve. But even with so many great entries, it's still a contest, and someone's got to win. Luckily, someone did! Announcing the winners of the 2014 Saxxy Awards! Head over and check them out. All winners will get an exclusive, highly rare in-game Saxxy Award, and The Overall Winner's getting flown out to Seattle to spend some time with us here at Valve.
Odd that they'd reveal them all at once this year unlike past years.
with a lot of heated debate here at Valve.
"God fucking dammit fred we are not making that shitty meme video the short winner" "Eat my shorts tom i beat you in dota 2 last week so my vote counts for 2 points" and that's why it won
At least defect won a saxxy.
i'm upset defuse on the fly didn't get a pick, that was funny as fuck.
i'm upset defuse on the fly didn't get a pick, that was funny as fuck.
for the 20th post it was disqualified for being late (the team was having issues uploading)
Imagine how the people who made mann.co cup classic feel having being beaten by tf2 in 60 seconds
At least defect won a saxxy.
my enhanced tf2 bots mod was used in that, I get a saxxy :D
Great entries this year. However I'm disappointing that Tidehunter's Tactics didn't win anything. The animation was so fantastic and is without a doubt the best Dota video yet. Also the worst nominee for the Shorts category won... I had my money on "Some guy challenged me".
I wanna know how such a simple and mediocre SFM can win best overall. Pudge should have won that imo.
Grats to Nonamezleft, Neo and all the other cool people who won stuff/got nominated.
I'm really happy about Defect winning.
Imagine how the people who made mann.co cup classic feel having being beaten by tf2 in 60 seconds
worst saxxy winner since the high five replay. i wouldn't blame smashing vet if he quits saxxies or SFM in general. he spent over 4 months on that just to get beaten by a shitty, unoriginal meme.
Hahaha so tf2 in 60 seconds won? Holy fuck at least it's not as bad as that fucking sniper and medic entry from last year winning, it's like kids voted for the shittiest easy to do video and it wins still think that "someone challenged me to make a saxxy entry" should have won. I swear the saxxys are a big fucking joke now.
i just checked the rest of the winners. yep, i can confirm that this year's was a MASSIVE dissapointment. its even worse when you try to think what kind of judgement they used to pick the winners, when most of the community agreed on who was a sure winner.
it's like kids voted for the shittiest easy to do video and it wins

still think that "someone challenged me to make a saxxy entry" should have won.
hmm?
That DEFECT_ one truly is a heartstrings puller.
hmm?
I honestly believe it was the best short pacing and animation wise.
I honestly believe it was the best short pacing and animation wise.
the joke is old
I did like animation vs. animator, but honestly it didn't deserve best overall by any stretch. My winners: Short: Mann Co. Cup Classic Action: Wrench in the Gears Comedy: Jewel Escapade (No it wasn't nominated for that category, and no I don't care) Drama: DEFECT_ Overall: Rivalry Rush
hmm?
Oh fuck me I forgot there was rivalry rush, I ment that one and not the one I said sorry about that.
jewel escapade should had won best overall because it was flawless in every single aspect: writting, camerawork and animation. animator vs animation was fine to an extent, but it certainly didn't feature anything particulary remarkable other than a joke that is as old as deviantart itself.
Really sad Mann Swap didn't win anything.
the joke is old
Oh yeah, because a portal animation in which nothing much happens, a video telling the same tired jokes coupled with mediocre animation and a video that honestly had no business being a short and suffered for it IMO are really so much better.
Oh yeah, because a portal animation in which nothing much happens, a video telling the same tired jokes coupled with mediocre animation and a video that honestly had no business being a short and suffered for it IMO are really so much better.
except your post was literally that it had better "pacing" (debatable) and "animation" (absolutely false)
except your post was literally that it had better "pacing" (debatable) and "animation" (absolutely false)
I've never pretended to be stating anything more than my opinions and in my opinion it paced itself better than the other shorts and, though the animation was certainly rougher than the others - the exaggerated movements looked better than the other shorts, no matter how smooth the animation.
Oh yeah, because a portal animation in which nothing much happens, a video telling the same tired jokes coupled with mediocre animation and a video that honestly had no business being a short and suffered for it IMO are really so much better.
Mann Co. Cup Classic had loads of untapped potential, but it was miles better than the one made in a day.
Mann Co. Cup Classic had loads of untapped potential, but it was miles better than the one made in a day.
It definitely had untapped potential, but squeezing it all into a one minute video was possibly the worst thing they could have done for it. Jumping from location to location every ten seconds with some sort of explosion or crash at each stop. As an idea it was brilliant, but as an actual video it really falls short.

Jumping from location to location every ten seconds with some sort of explosion or crash at each stop. As an idea it was brilliant, but as an actual video it really falls short.
but the other video was a joke with no actual story or clever writing or decent animation or effort I mean don't get me wrong it was funny, but its humor came from the fact that it was poking fun at its own low quality, and a video like that just does not deserve to win the Saxxies.
the only reason these two ere there was because they couldn't leave 2 spots blank in the nominees page.
Every year everyone's favorite doesn't win. Let's just be glad for the people that won, all of these deserved it one way or another. They were all top quality, even the nominees, they were great.
