http://www.teamfortress.com/post.php?id=15904
Hey, what's up, everybody? We're adding taunts to the TF2 Workshop! What are taunts? They're character-specific animations you can trigger in-game to either announce that you've just shot someone or would like to be shot yourself. And now you can make your own! We've been blown away by the quality of item submissions in the Workshop so far, and this feels like the next logical step to letting creative folks in the community help make the game even better. If you're a talented animator, there's now a whole new way to contribute content. And if you're not an animator, you can still look forward to getting a lot more ways to express yourself on the battlefield in 2015. Now, as we all know, almost everybody in the TF2 community is made up of Bruce Wayne-like philanthropist billionaires, so most of you can tune out for this paragraph. This next part is aimed specifically at the very slim margin of you who don't already have enough money and would like more. That's right! The TF2 team will be regularly selecting top-rated taunts in the Workshop to be sold in the Mann Co. Store. Be sure to check out the Workshop Taunt FAQ for more information on how to create and upload taunts. One last thing: To help celebrate the Taunt Workshop launch, we're happy to release three all-new community-made taunts, The Boston Breakdance, Most Wanted and The Killer Solo, now available at the Mann Co. Store!
"regularly selecting" Hah.
I wanna see somebody recreate the taunts from Saints Row 2. Especially that merry jig.
As far as I can tell, self-made taunts have no way of acknowledgement that it's "hey it's a self-made this guy ANIMATED this shit". They should give self-mades like, a spotlight particle/effect.

If i recall there's a big community sparkle poof effect for selfmade taunts within the files for effects?
you've got to admit, i'd be funny if selfmade taunts were less flashy than their unusual counterparts.
you've got to admit, i'd be funny if selfmade taunts were less flashy than their unusual counterparts.
They actually should be less flashy. The content creators are generally more modest than the unusual-fanatics, so they get a more modest effect. The effect should say "I made this" as opposed to "YEAH I MADE THIS MOTHERFUCKERS SUCK ON THAT"
Yeah right, how long before this becomes yet another one of Valves failed attempts to "communityize" the game It will never happen
I won't be content with Valve's "community involvement" with TF2 until a map workshop is created. Preferably with submission fees so as to cut back on the amount of shit you have to wade through until something good appears.

Doesn't stop trash from popping up.
Steam Greenlight has a $100 fee for posting a game. Doesn't stop trash from popping up.
Okay, perhaps "trash" is too general of a term. How about "shitty joke submissions" and "a 12 year old's first project with Hammer that he got bored of after two days"?
They are working on a map workshop, but who knows how long it will be until they we get the map workshop. It took just three weeks short of a whole year for the taunt workshop to be completed!
Okay, perhaps "trash" is too general of a term. How about "shitty joke submissions" and "a 12 year old's first project with Hammer that he got bored of after two days"?
Yeah, that still applies, have you seen the shit Steam Greenlight has? You could give the item submission fees but it wouldn't filter any shit any more than it already does. Sometimes you just gotta take the shit because the better parts outweigh it.
you've got to admit, i'd be funny if selfmade taunts were less flashy than their unusual counterparts.
Selfmade cosmetics are less flashy then their unusual counterparts...
I'm no good at 3D but here are some animation ideas I've been working on :)

An unusual '72 version of that taunt would be godly
