• Shining texture command?

Hi guys, I would like to know if anyone knows if there's a command that enables/disables this shining effect you see here [t]http://cloud-4.steampowered.com/ugc/50986086088760836/05732D87BC8C3AC5BE2B54FAEF6932C374AF9C8D/[/t] I tried putting the highquality and maxquality cfg made by Chris, but even with high settings I can't see that shining effect you see in that screenshot. The best I could reach is this: [t]http://puu.sh/bBxrb/b5e65fa46d.png[/t] If you know any command that could help, please tell me, me and a friend of mine are trying so figure out some things. Thanks
First of all, have you tried mat_specular 0? Second of all, people generally post their problems in the various megathreads on the tf2 forum page. Try asking in the TF2 General Chat, and maybe more people will read/reply.
I think that's the "Bloom" option in the graphics menu, but I'm not sure. mat_bloom is the command I think. It only works on maps with HDR compiled, a lot of custom maps that are compiled with HDR makes the bloom really broken looking.
mat_hdr_level 2
If you've used a FPS config before it might have saved some funky bloom settings, and chris' configs are sometimes a bit outdated. You probably have these commands but try fiddling around with them if not, as they are the bloom related commands I found in a config I use that's newer than the chris ones. Pretty sure mat_hdr_level is the bloom option in your options. 0 = no hdr 1 = HDR + bloom on hdr maps 2 = full hdr on hdr maps Alternatively some weird combination of those. mat_non_hdr_bloom_scalefactor mat_bloomscale mat_bloom_scalefactor_scalar mat_disable_bloom And as Vincentor said, it's also map dependant. But I'd imagine Gullywash has those done right :v:
Thanks a lot guys, I'm gonna try these commands soon. Jesp you said there are bettere and newer FPS configs, could you show me some of them please?
Playing with mat_phong may be pretty interesting too. Um,btw, how can people play with that horrible viewmodel fov? It scares me.
Nice, the command for that bloom is mat_non_hdr_bloom_scalefactor mat_non_hdr_bloom_scalefactor 1 shows bloom mat_non_hdr_bloom_scalefactor 0 doesn't show bloom Thanks a lot, I'll wait for those configs then

Based on chris dx9frames and is basically the same good old thing but with some extra convars and a lot more comments in the file to edit it to your liking. It's not like it'll magically give you 20 more fps, but it's just.. easier to tweak and understand I guess? There a null-movement script included that you'll have to decide if you want to use (I don't use it even though there's really no reason not to, I just dislike the majority of scripts due to personal prejudices :v: ) towards the end of the cfg, but just read through it and see if it's interesting. And probably read the thread as well as I'm sure any silly things that might be in it are commented on there. It is fairly recent afterall, so I'm sure there's some issues or un-needed stuff in there. Here you can see the cfg file itself without downloading it. Could potentially just use that to get some of the weirder commands explained and tinker with chris' config if you feel more confident doing it that way than putting in a new and "in progress" config. Reading more into the thread I probably should have done the latter itself, seems like some people have issues with it. I must just be lucky :pwn:
