NOTE: I am not suggesting THAT THIS BE PUT INTO THE GAME. I know that TF2 DOESN'T NEED A TENTH CLASS as it is already generally balanced for the 9 roles. This was just a fun idea FOR IDEAS' SAKE, not a petition to make a tenth class.
Disclaimer: All of this is an idea I've been slowly building for various years, inspired by the concept and valve's desire for a 10th class (known as the commander class). Looking up current class and weapons stats, game's design, timeline and story, as well as looking at other games for inspiration, I came up with such a design that I fail to put to an actual piece of art due to my limited skills in drawing or modeling; while you see that there are no speed/hp/dmg stats, they are on my list but I know that no matter what I put out, people will complain about preferred stats so that will not be part of this.
As a fan of the game since TFC and playing TF2 since closed-beta, I have not been able to let myself go of this fantastic game nor my desire to contribute something to the game and/or community; in this case, I wanted to do a fake TF2 update similar to the Guard Dog update with 2D art similar to the WAR! update.
Knowing that this idea wasn't going anywhere, I thought, "Might as well put it up and get it over with". So here it is.Knowing that this idea wasn't going anywhere, I thought, "Might as well put it up and get it over with". So here it is. Just don't compare her to the Guard dog in any way.

Exclusive Skill - CCTV/Security Cam/Motion Alarm
Place an innocuous security camera in a corridor's blindspot or hidden beside a crate, and when an opposing team member passes within its limited cone area field of view, an audio and visual alert will be sent to your team members within the range of the camera. Use this to alert your team to a possible incoming rush from an unmanned corridor or undisguised spy in your area.
- Building: Low HP and Sappable, no alert when destroyed
- Infinite quantity, only one can be active at one time
- Self-destructs after alarm plays due to enemy detection
- Blind to disguised spies
- Light glows as Red/Blue, depending on team.

Well, that's all I want to share to you all; As you can see, I even added possible updates as I had planned to make a fake update page, similar to the Guard Dog Update, from hats to achievements to taunts.
I await your jeers, flames, and PM spam but be mature and don't try to make connections to her and the fan guard dog class; I couldn't think of a better name
inspired by the concept and valve's desire for a 10th class
they did not.
I don't really understand the design philosophy. Like, if you're talking about added an entire other class, there should be some damn good reasons for doing so. As-is, it really just seems like the concept for the entire class (support class for team resistance) could be encompassed in a medic item for the same basic effect. A nerfed MvM shield uber would suffice for a team resistance role, making it an entire class doesn't really make sense to me.
The security cam seems pointless, and the SMG seems bizarre and really forced. Radar could work as a small upside to some engi item, like a little screen on a dispenser replacement, or something like the rescue ranger's screen. That or something for medic, knowing where groups of enemies are when you're pushing could be useful. There's not really any reason for this to be its own class though.
area denial is already a job that sentries excel at. and with a little bit of experience you'll notice that any building that gets destroyed already cues a voice response for the engineer that anyone in the vicinity can hear.
as stated above, this tenth class isnt anything that is not already covered in the game.
Firstly, why the hell are you using onedrive for images? try imgur.
Secondly, Area denial already exists in the form of Demos, Engies, and Heavies. The Scout and Spy both accomplish the role of, well, scouting. In fact, in Highlander, a Spy's main job when the other team is too coordinated for picks is to call the enemy's positioning and their pushes.
Thirdly, the italian gimmick is wayyy too tacked on. Not every Demo weapon is a Scottish original, not every Medic weapon was used by germans in WWII, and not every Sniper weapon is used for hunting wallabies and koalas.
All definite good points. I agree with all of them.
This was something I've been thinking and tweaking for years so many of the things that I introduce to put as various specialized items on one class to excel at has been addressed. This was an fun idea for ideas' sake; not going around saying "THIS SHOULD BE IN THE GAME", just ideas they are. I know the idea isn't perfect and I know it is FAR from perfect; I don't have exact stats, proof of concept, or even a competitive knowledge of TF2 to predict and design for all the variables.
This was just fun, that's all. But like I said, I agree with all that you posted thus far.
And Metaru, didn't Valve work on a Commander class that would have an overview of the map to give the team signals, supply drops, or air strikes, but dropped it since they weren't actually interacting with the game on the level as other classes were and decided it wouldn't be fun?

you answered your own question.

not only that but engineer + pyro combo is an exceedingly powerful method of area denial, especially to spies
though that requires 2 people. But if done right its pretty hard to get through, until you use a clever ubercharge
you answered your own question.
I am referring to your post of how Valve did not have a desire to make a tenth class.
on brotherhood of arms, maybe. but like everything on that build, it was discarded and rebuilt into what tf2 is now.
To be honest, this does seem right up there with something that would be in the BROTHERHOOD OF ARMS TF2 version we never got
I love the CCTV idea, would be so good for engi. It's like a proximity mine except not shitty/unfun to play against.
Should I feel offended by this?

Hi there!

[sp](not technically a 10th class, but it's a Deathmatch "class" for the TF2 Classic mod)[/sp]
[sp](see nassim0 and badgerpig's civilian for TF2 Classic's eventual Civilian which will be the 10th class)[/sp]
TF2 basically has a 10th class, it's the melee focused Demoknight, Valve just made it a sub-class of Demoman instead of it's own class.

riot shields in tf2 would be silly as fuck anyways

That's pretty cool; didn't know someone was working on a TFC mod for tf2. Interesting, and thanks =)

But hats, milk, ghost swords, teleporters, and ghosts of virgin wizards arent?

How are milk and teleporters less silly? they're less silly because they have a distinctly specific function that fits to the style of gameplay. The wizard thing is specifically for holloween. Swords I've not had issues with.
a riot shield is silly because it brings a very impractical game play mechanic into play that doesn't fit in with tf2's pacing. It's an area cock block above anything else, rather than an obstacle like sentries are, which are proven good in area denial.

literally no reason to post this
What a quality discussion thread. I'm glad everyone was able to produce some quality feedback and ideas for improvement.
riot shields in tf2 would be silly as fuck anyways
Targe is basically a riot shield in function but with an actual useful ability attached to it.
literally no reason to post this
I reject your opinion and substitute my own.
I seriously thought it would be about 50/50 of constructive criticism and many versions telling how stupid I am. I knew from the beginning it wouldn't be the BEST idea but I felt it wouldn't be the worst, particularly since it couldn't even be implemented officially nor even via mod as few would express interest; even the Pyranodon's Guard dog received moderate reviews.
You all proved me wrong but thank you all for replies regardless.
So this class is A Spy with the Shield and capability of Demo and Engie and Scout's Pistol?
So this class is A Spy with the Shield and capability of Demo and Engie and Scout's Pistol?
No, it's a Heavy w/ a shield and capability of Medic's mvm ubershield, Engie's builidings, and demo's resistance.
I will never get the appeal of having a tenth class when the game is already having a lot of problems with balance as is
Balance the Minis first and we can talk about this nice concept though

I agree with the minis need to be desperately balanced.
