I've been working on an old server plugin, Equipment Manager, it was broken back in 2011.
(original: https://forums.alliedmods.net/showthread.php?t=98651)
It's working now, with full bonemerge, but it's still a work in progress.
If you like custom hats, you're welcome to come check it out: 74.91.113.215:27015

isnt that why valve implimented the super restrictive model changes?
People were giving themselfs hats on servers with this, and they didnt like it.
Not that I'm complaining at all. I love being a BBQ grill wearing robot with a golden statue, hitting my turret and somehow filling its ammunition up as the next guy. Just dont see this ending well.
But the question is, are the models viewable by others? I know valve had a checker system that made models for things such as randomizer/tf2items items disappear.

Yes, they are visible.

I can confirm it's working
I have no idea how, but it's working
Could something similiar be used to make custom weapons? And are you going to relase source code for this beauty when it will be done?

So, You can use custom models?
You can, no matter what, force every one to use MadCap form TF2 Emoprium #57 ?

In other way, awesome work. But what about custom weps?
it was patched initially because people were using it to equip items from the game itself, instead of custom stuff.
if it is found that the servers using this updated plugin don't do such a thing, i believe it is likely that they will not patch it again.
For a second I thought this was a thing that would disable equip regions, and you would just be able to put anything on, and allow you to put any hat on for any class. Not sure how that would work, but still
Don't release this man. It's going to be the same result as last time. Bastard admins are going to equip Valve content, and your method and probably a bunch of other stuff is going to break from Valve's inevitable patch, and everyone is going to hate your guts for causing TF2 mods to become even more restricted than they already are.
If you have any respect at all for the community of this game you will not fucking release this plugin.

I hope you're proud of yourself.
Well, he must be. I wonder if he planned to troll us this way since the beginning, or did he just changed his mind somehow.
Most likely the former. This whole thing stinks. I'm gonna check if the code he provided is legit.

Hoh hoh hoh, look what I found:

Well, apparently they weren't lucky enough to get the source code.
I administrate a heavily modded server, and Valve is going to break everything when they find out about this. Ideally they'd simply change their policy on attachments and just go after individual servers that use official hats, but that'll never happen.
Hope you're happy, because they're going to break everything.
Well, you know, Valve doesn't NEED to know
as far as I know he have not posted this anywhere outside this thread (excluding Allied Modders, but that was just compiled version and it got taken down quickly). And now he delated this link.
This thread only have 830 views at this time. We can safely assume that about 300 individuals have entered it prior to deletion of the link.
The plugin filesize wasn't big (22,7 MB), but the hosting was pretty shitty (or mabe thats just my internet being crap again). I think only about 50 to 70 people have downloaded the full archive.
Not everything is lost yet. We just have to be quiet.

But there is one big word. Sharing. Look at the HL2 leak, axel gave it to 4 friends, and they leaked it. Boom. Everyone and their mothers now has the leak.

The link wasn't deleted when I posted, and I've refreshed multiple times. It's been up for hours. I don't find it hard to believe that someone, just 1 person, downloaded it with the intent to spread it around. And that's also assuming that this guy only posted the file here...which I doubt.
Well, I searched the filename of this package in google, and it gives no matches. It doesn't seem to be reuploaded anywhere, nor linked to any public (google indexed) forum. But you are right, only time can tell.
hello i find link from before in my history! http://www.mediafire.com/download/4n83r5jmaedrqm7/tf2_bonemerge.zip plugin very nice thank you xykon!
That didn't take long.
Well, there goes any hope for a resonable end for this story. Shame.
Well, there goes any hope for a resonable end for this story. Shame.
Someone did it on purpose. No doubt.
I mean, who the fuck would name himself "teamhattress".
So, "what happens now?"
"Now? Hehehe.. Now we go ban some methods..." -Valve in the next 10 mins or so.
Welp.
Time to be sad.
Just so everyone knows, I'm pretty sure the old method of adding hats and stuff only got disabled when people started selling the stuff for use on their server, specifically things they didn't have permission to do so for, not just because it was possible

Which is precisely why Valve is going to fuck up modding anyway, because if it's possible, it's inevitable.
Kinda sad but at the same time impressive. I knew it was possible to fix but no one wanted to do it because Valve, well more likely the outcome of assholes abusing it then Valve locking it down more.
Make the most of it while we can I guess.
it all went perfect except for the part where op posted the source and edited it out later
