Copying TF2 game files over from another computer - Steam insists on downloading it anyway.

I finally managed to get some of my friends to play TF2 so rather than redownload it four times I copied it off my computer, only now Steam is insisting on downloading it in its entirety. Anyone know what might be causing this and a possible fix?
