• Bad performance in TF2

I recently upgraded my 8800 GT to GTX 460 and here's my other specs: Q6600 @ 2,7 GHz 4GB RAM blah blah I noticed that my FPS gets very low in some parts of any map, even on the lowest settings. I tried to reset everything with SourceTools but it didn't help (I disabled Steam Cloud).
What kind of performance are you getting in other games?
What kind of performance are you getting in other games?
Good. Mafia 2, DiRT 2 and other games play fine with AA on the highest settings.
Are you on a 64-bit system?
Weird. I'm also getting very bad fps, but I've got a 8800 instead.
Are you on a 64-bit system?
Yes.
Happens to me too, it's really annoying. A 5770 shouldn't be getting an average of 7 fps on ANY game. Complete bullshit if you ask me. :arghfist::butt:
Turn multi-core rendering off. That resolved a lag issue on my end one time.
Well, that's assuming it's on. It's not for me.
I NEED Multi-core Rendering or I get shit FPS all the time I gain like 20FPS with it enabled, but I crash alot. Its annoying.
I've noticed it happens with almost EVERYONE. I believe it's some sort of server side shit that makes most computers get a bad fps drop. After a while though, it'll stop. Which sucks.
I NEED Multi-core Rendering or I get shit FPS all the time I gain like 20FPS with it enabled, but I crash alot. Its annoying.
You should turn it off and just install no-phong packs
CPU Bottleneck. Turning down graphics won't help, so you may as well leave them maxed, seeing as a 460 can easily take care of the TF2. Multicore for me tends to double my framerate, so unless you're stuttering, I would recommend keeping that on. What's you're average framerate anyway? With a Q8400 (OC'd to 3.2GHz), I get around 45 fps average in a typical match. What's it dipping into on your setup?
Start, Run..., regetit, OK, and navigate to My Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Valve\Source, and you should see "tf". Click the plus next to it and then "Settings". On the right, you should see "DXLevel_V1", which should be about the fourth from the top. Double click on it. Click "Decimal", and replace "95" or "91" or whatever with "90". Helps for me.
Yes.
Most of those tf2 issues come from the 64-bit systems. I am on a 32-bit and it works fine.
:psyduck: But performance has improved for every other game?
Yes. --- The FPS drops when there's a lot of players, even on the lowest settings (I set my resolution to 640x480).
Let me explain my issues, since it is relative to Akasori's 1: If I turn off multi-core rendering, I get shit FPS unless I play at baby resolution with dx8 mode and low settings 2: I use beta lightwarps that are not DX8 compatable, which I never use DX8 3: DX8 never gives me much of an FPS boost, which is another reason I don't use dx8. 4: If I enable multi-core rendering, I get high FPS, but I risk crashing Hardware: ATI Radeon HD 5450 AMD AthlonII X4 4GB RAM 64-bit system.
