I purchased my copy of Orange Box in a local supermarket in Sweden (i live in sweden) and it seems that ive gotten the censored version. half life 2 episode two low violence.gcf and team fortress 2 low violence.gcf are the low violence gcf files.
In tf2 it replaces all the gibs with random props like rubber ducks, license plates, scrap metal, hamburgers and so on. It just reduces the game experience by 110 % for me... I close my eyes when someone explodes. Its just that fucking ugly.
[highlight]NOTE: IT CLEARLY SAYS "SVENSK VERSION" WHICH MEANS SWEDISH VERSION!![/highlight]
Things that i tried:
Removing the .GCF files but when i run tf2 it updates and the shitty .GCF is regenerated
Console commands (all violence vars set to 1)
Copying the blood and gib files from team fortress 2 content.gcf and team fortress 2 materials.gcf into tf folder.
It got fixed now. I did not even have to delete anything except for the low violence gcf files. Now i am enjoying all flying gibs and blood
Can an admin lock down the thread? steam fixxed this problem.....
I know this a stupid answer, posted millions of times, but go buy it through Steam.
It's cheap.
Contact Steam would probably be the easiest way to do it. They gave Shugo the low violence files, they can probably takes yours away.

it was like 30 euros on steam and about 19 euros in that store...
He said he already did that. Anyways, try removing the GCFs and changing the AppID to 440 via gameinfo.txt.

try this: delete the .gcf, delete the tf2 folder, uninstall the game thru steam, install the game thru steam.

Contact steam and tell them that you have a German version of TF2 when you're supposed to have the Swedish version. They can probably fix it real easy.

You can do it with normal version of TF2 by adding -sillygibs to the launch options

It's not that fucking ugly. It's actually quite fitting to the cartoony theme of Team Fortress 2.
Contact Steamsupport. I had the exact same problem and some complaining about it to Steamsupport fixed the problem.

Christmas JUST passed and New Year's Day is coming up. They're not lazy, they're more than likely just swamped with the fewer people they have working this time of year.
Edit: Plus, they don't live to serve you. Other people have problems that are more critical than an incorrect version of the game.
