• New project : hourly server rental, free first hour

Hello, We're starting a new project for game server rental. But unlike other companies, we let user rent server for exactly the time they need it : from one hour to multiple months/years, with no other limit (like slot count) ! To let you test the service, first hour of rental is free (and you can rent a server for only one hour, so you can try the service for free). For now there are 4 supported games, Team Fortress 2 being one of them of course :) Servers are all located in Europe but we hope to extend to America and Asia quickly. The process to rent a server is pretty simple : create an account on https://ondemand.dedikewl.fr/ , click on "New server", choose your game and in the next 5 minutes your server will be ready with FTP access, RCON, ... We are interested in any of your feedbacks :) Thank you for your time.
Not to be rude, but TF2 already has something like this
Indeed, but you don't have full control of the server (like config file access, map upload, ...) and you can't choose how much time you need the server (2 hours max for serveme.tf). But that's a very good offer too :)

Not terrible for something that's short notice. If you can have a pay and play, no setup, that'd be nice. Extensive control is novel, but not practical here. Anybody who is prepping the server to that kind of level is likely prepping a server for long term. If you can let people retain a server config and doing pay & play, it may be better for teams that play seasons without scrim (a lot of lower div teams do this). Teams like mine scrim a lot though. Easily 5-6 hours per week of server use. At that point, evl gaming is our best bet. EVL has an offer for UGC teams. 6 months of a 20 slot + mumble for flat $30. Yours is amazing for community efforts though. Short term, few hour activities. That's assuming they lack their own server already though--which would be oddly specific. I like the idea, I just am not sure how it will work out.
I feel like the fact that it's a short-term rental is completely counter-intuitive to the ability to have full access to FTP and stuff. If you're running a competitive game chances are the whitelists and maps will already be on the server anyway. And I thought it was just short-term rental but it looks like you're also offering server rental by the month/year, which doesn't really separate you from the multitude of other server providers out there (NFO, Multiplay, Gameservers, etc). Basically I'm just unsure what you're trying to do with this project.
Our main selling point is, indeed, short term rental because almost no other server provider do it but we shouldn't restrict ourselves to it. If we can offer servers for one hour, it cost us nothing to offer longer rental duration. And if our users appreciate our services they may stay with us for longer duration.
Btw, as we were not really competitive for longer rental, we reduced our prices :)
