Recommended: 6-8 players Recommended map: arena_well Played on arena Turn damage indicators on for full RPG effect. One person goes spec, one sits out. You get Two leaders, one for red, one for blu. At least ONE person in spec must have a mic with alltalk on, the person with the mic should be spec. The two leaders pick what team they want. Blu goes first since they're the attacking team. This gimmick is turn based. If you're on well, all the players of x team line up on their side of the point. The other team does the same but on their side. Class specific rules Just to clear it up, any shotgun is allowed 2 shots at 1/2 Length or less, but there is an exception to the FaN, it can only by shot once, not twice. Scout - Force-a-Nature can only be shot once per turn - Pistol is the same - Bonk lets you not get hit for a turn after you use it - Sandman has unlimited range and knocks the opponent into a stun for the next turn Soldier - Regular launcher goes 1/2 way across the bridge - Buff Banner lets you have 2 attacks if you are fully charged, you can only use it once a game. - Shotgun is same as scattergun - Shovel is close range only - [del]Only use the Direct hit at 1/2 range because it can insta-kill some classes such as scout[/del] You can use the Direct Hit at any range, and you're stunned for the next turn after using it. - The Equalizer works the same way as the Chargin' Targe if your health is below 50, allowing you to move 2 spaces. Pyro - Flamethrower can only be shot in a short burst and only at melee range - Flare gun/shotgun 1/2 of bridge length - Melee is obviously melee range only - The Axetinguisher can be used if the player in front of you has been lit on fire in the previous turn, then you may light the player on fire again and hit him with the Axetinguisher, this takes two turns total. Demoman - Grenade launcher goes 1/2 of bridge - Charging targe can be used at any time but they cannot attack after using it - Stickybomb can be shot anywhere but cannot be detonated until the next turn - Bottle/eyelander close range only - The Scottish Resistance allows you to shoot two sticky bombs instead of one Heavy - Natasha/Normal used only 1/2 of bridge, 5 clicks of the mouse allowed. - The sandvich, The only healing item you'll ever use as a heavy, to use it throw it under yourself (Right Click), you can't get any more sandviches. - Melee is obviously melee range - Natascha slows the target for the next round, meaning if he moves then he can only move half of the distance to the move space, if the target is half way to the space and is ordered to move, he has to move to the nearest space ordered. - PK STARSTORM (Set mouse sensitivity all the way up and hold mouse one with the minigun while spinning wildly) Engineer - Move that gear up - Shotgun and Pistol go 1/2 the bridge - Wrench goes melee rage - Sentry can only be built after 2 teammates die - Dispenser can be built after one person dies - Teleporter is useless, don't bother with it Medic (Or, the important guy) - Medic can heal for 3 seconds only if he is told to and cannot attack that round - Saw at melee range - Syringe gun at 1/2 bridge length Sniper - It's a good job mate - Sniper is only allowed to scope after 2 team-mates die and only allowed to shoot once, no headshots. - Huntsman must go for body/leg shots - Jarate allows a teammate to get double hits on a enemy for the next round, meaning that they can double their attack (Heavy shoots 10 bullets at that one person instead of 5, or 4 shotgun shots instead of two) - [del]Razorback is useless (Like SkyRocket)[/del] The Razorback makes you immune to spy turn-arounds. - Melee is, I'm not even going to say it. Spah - Shoot 1/2 range - Sap if you're in close range with a building - If you get a headshot with the ambassador you skip your next turn - Knife, melee range only, you can make an enemy turn around if you're within melee range, but you can't backstab until next turn. You can't turn snipers around if they have the Razorback. - Disguising stops you from being attacked for 2 rounds Map Layout As I said before, the map should be arena_well. DON'T STAND ON THE POINT! This isn't a mode suggestion to valve, just a fun gimmick to play with your friends. You can bend the rules however you like, but it's best you play it this way. I credit SkyRocket for thinking of this gimmick and setting the rules for it. Sky is making a map for it, if he ever finishes it :rolleye:. Spritlol is making a proper map for this. It's going to have a grid with squares that light up team colored when someone steps on them.
this is a lot more fun than it looks, tried it tonight
this is a lot more fun than it looks, tried it tonight
Bent the rules a bit though, PEE KAY STARSTORM.
I dunno, if anything I think an RPG mode for Team Fortress would be better as a turn-based strategy.
everyone should have the damage number indicators on for the full effect and someone must be micspamming final fantasy battle music
Best gimmick ever also, Final Fantasy or Earthbound music would be perfect for this gimmick
someone want to make a server so we can play this?
someone want to make a server so we can play this?
We had a server up, but he Dragon1972 just went to sleep, Uh, if you can wait like till tomorrow, He'll host. I'll post the IP when he starts to host so you guys can join and see it in action.
Sourcemod plugin for this would be nice.
Someone get the Starcraft TF2 pictures in here.
Someone get the Starcraft TF2 pictures in here.
you're thinking of real time strategy, this is turn based combat
somebody should make a map specific for this with the ground made into squares.
somebody should make a map specific for this with the ground made into squares.
I'm actually going to make a map tomorrow for this. Dragon didn't mention but arena_offblast works too, since it's control point is basically the same as well.
you're thinking of real time strategy, this is turn based combat
My request still stands. (I wouldn't know, I've never played Starcraft. I'm not in to RTS.)

Some other things dragon missed that are a bit important and don't make stuff Insta-kill: Any shotgun is allowed 2 shots at 1/2 Length or less, while Force-a-Nature only can be used for one shot. You can only use the Direct hit at 1/2 range because it can insta-kill some classes such as scout, and you're stunned for the next turn after using it. Sniper is only allowed to scope after 2 team-mates die and only allowed to shoot once. And jarate means that a teamate is allowed double hits on a enemy for the next round, meaning that they can double their attack (Heavy shoots 10 bullets at that one person instead of 5, or 4 shotgun shots instead of two) He forgot to edit this before he went to sleep :v:
* tf2 rts
Oh god, with the inclusion of TF2 bots, this could become possible
two demos in the first pic.
They're coming outta the walls! They're coming out of the goshdarn walls! Personally, think goshdarn would fit Engie better.
Somebody tell me when the server's up.
Somebody tell me when the server's up.
I'll update the thread when the server is up, and we'll have a video before that showing it.
Razorback is useless
What else is new?
*rts
So you have a lot of time on your hands huh?
Someone go into hammer and make a map special for this.
I sure as hell hope that's an actual mod, not just a good photoshop.
I sure as hell hope that's an actual mod, not just a good photoshop.
I got bad news for you.
Actually Dragon I came up with this, not sky.
