Have you ever felt uncertain about the direction TF2 is heading in? Or perhaps been disappointed that Valve hasn't given this game the attention it deserves? Never fret, your worries have been assuaged - our team has begun work on a community-driven edition of Team Fortress 2!
[img]http://downloads.thedalokohsclub.com/tf2c/header1_whatistf2c.png[/img]
Continuing from the intro above, Team Fortress 2 Classic is exactly what was stated above: a community-made mod using the 2008 leaked Source Code. This mod aims to bring not only scrapped features back, but also add in new, never before seen features.
This mod began life after the release of the Orange Box Team Fortress 2 v1.0.0.9 client/server. While the v1.0.0.9 client brings players back to the early days of Team Fortress 2, it is very limited in the amount of customization one can do. While you can customize the HUD and skins and whatnot, there's no real way to add in new content.
That's where Team Fortress 2 Classic comes in.

Just reposting from the very end of the last thread:
For something less related to the merc's voice, I think I found a bug:
The Poacher's Pride for the sniper, when is shoot one single time and reloaded, it still takes 2 bullets from the reserve ammo. I don't know if this was already adressed and I am purily late, if it was, sorry then.
EDIT: Also, if the fire button is kept pressed while reloading, it reloads forever...

Just reposting from the very end of the last thread:
Same feature in FaN and Soda Popper, the reload ejects two shells regardless if both have been fired.
Don't know about the infinite reloading bug though.

I am not talking about the animation, even if only one bullet was shot, it removes 2 bullets from the total ammo when reloading...

Came out a little darker than it was when I was editing- the whole left hand of the screen wasn't that dark in SFM. Too lazy to re-render, but I will if people want it.

What stage is that? A Hydro revamp or something?
What stage is that? A Hydro revamp or something?
The style is similar but the layout is totally different.
shouldn't the install instructions state that the current patch is 1.8.3.1 ??
Why can't the developers keep an archive with an up-to-date full build of the mod so every newcomer doesn't have to download shitload of patches?
Why can't the developers keep an archive with an up-to-date full build of the mod so every newcomer doesn't have to download shitload of patches?
I don't think you HAVE to.... I'm fairly certain you can just download and install 1.8.0 and you can do the same with only the latest patch from there.
Hy , Where do I Extrect the patches to?
So C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\sourcemods\tf2classic right? (Just being 101% sure here)
Since I don't see anything new from before I installed all the latest patches and I get this when trying to connect to dm_compound 'Disconnect: Server uses different class tables.'
because the patch zip file contains a tf2classic folder make sure you don't have a tf2classic folder inside sourcemods\tf2classic
because the patch zip file contains a tf2classic folder make sure you don't have a tf2classic folder inside sourcemods\tf2classic
I do have one , should I just delete it and than it would work?
no cut and paste it to the sourcemod folder then it should work
i think what you did was extract the files to source mod folder giving you tf2classic folder then extracted the patches into tf2classic folder instead of extracting to sourcemod folder to over write and update the game

Okay , should I replace or skip all the files with the same name (total of 302)
replace :)
It is my duty to ask this question
Deathmatch mode when?
When there is a first iteration that can be tested and implemented.
Do I actually need TF2 installed to try this sourcemod out? I've not been able to properly play since the Steampipe update due to compy troubles; and actually I don't have any idea if TF2 would work on this other computer I'm using in the meantime. I quite like the sound of TF2C- if I ever do end up being able to play TF2 again I'll probably stick with this for a while instead of trying to dive right into everything I missed out the past few years.
I felt bad seeing my name under contributors when I haven't actually done anything yet, so I went ahead and ported one of my current projects to TF2C. At one point I was also working on a CP Twotower port, I had to format my HDD so I lost that but I'm going to be working on that at some point again too.
Meet the CP Kombu port (TF2C thread)
Three control point attack/defend, mountainlab style. Some content is missing so for anyone who knows the live TF2 version of Kombu it will look slightly different (particularly the C point). The map is still currently in development so every few releases of the live TF2 version I'll be updating the TF2C one to match.
A download is also available for the TF2C port here (and a bz2 here).

2fort basement has pickups now
Unless the DM mercenary isn't considered official i'd like to have my name under "Concept Artists" in the OP as well, thanks!
I remember map that I've played in regular tf2 where the blu team acts as robots in MVM, carrying a flag from cap point to cap point while the red team defends. I remember it being brought up, because it was similar to TFC's way of capture points.
Also on the subject of the DM merc, I reckon his personality shouldn't be "generic shooter guy" like some kind of duke nukem or even "generic" at all. I mean he's only meant to be generic compared to the other mercs, he still needs a personality.
Now for the actual traits I'd say one should go for a balanced attitude that doesn't go too far in any direction, cocky but without a god complex, "cool" but not in an exaggerated way, maybe he pulls off a few one-liners now and then, but said in a tongue in cheek manner and not in too much of an "action hero" way.
His voice quality shouldn't be all brute-y and gritty like some have suggested, that would again put him too far into the action hero/duke nukem slot, i'd say he should be more like a midpoint between what soldier sounds like and what scout sounds like. I guess that makes him a bit tougher to voice act, seeing how it all depends on the voice actors natural voice, but I think its worth the trouble.
Basically his voice should be pretty "standard" like what most people in movies sound like, nothing particular about it, the personality and interest about him should instead come from the things he says alone, and like I said in the old thread, he ought to have a lot more voicelines than the other mercs, probably twice as many, perhaps with more focus on what weapon he's currently using, whenever that's relevant, mainly kill/domination lines i suppose
It might be good to actually get the gamemode up and working before writing lines as well, so that you get some perspective on what this guy is actually going to be experiencing.
All of this in favor of not getting annoying in play, a voice that doesn't stand out wont get you fed up, and big variation in lines and phrases mean you'd get less repetition.
mainly kill/domination lines i suppose
Bringing this back up again since I still think it'd be pretty good to do.
Speaking of the Merc's lines, Had a thought:
For deathmatch, what if the Merc had different kill/domination lines for each weapon, rather than class specific lines? Say like for the Rocket launcher, he'd say something like "What a blast!" whereas with a shotgun, he'd say something like "meeaaty..."
I'm not good at oneliners, but I think I got the point across?
I actually loved GoldenBalls VO work
also will I ever be listed under contributors :(
Bringing this back up again since I still think it'd be pretty good to do.
Was hoping you'd quote that, I seemed to remember someone suggesting it and I didn't want to make it seem like it was my idea or that it was trying to take credit of it :v:
So, I'm guessing that the old classes are going to be in this mod? Or am I missing the point completely?
