Discuss, share and create your own badly ducttaped replica of the gibus or discuss that the sweater your grandma made with love would look better in Lime.

I'm planning to make some minimalistic mercs, though I can't trace weapons and hands for shit :v:
This is the current progress on the first one:

Wait, they opened a merchandising workshop?!
How would it even work?

Posting that baby in that fresh new thread.

Make a poster or a tshirt design, upload it to the workshop like a weapon or a hat, if your design is selected, dosh.

Here's something I did with Mr. Gibbly
Explain the disagrees, guys, please :l
People rate your merchandise, and the top rated get handpicked and put up for sale. Pretty much like the item workshop, accept this is real world items.
On a side note, can I get opinions?

Can't stress enough how much I love this and hope to see more from you.
You've got this nice style going on and everything
Ok, thank you for your replies (I hope this doesn't sound like sarcasm...) but I know how the 'basic' workshop would work. I meant things like - I've seen there is a Balloonicorn Keychain. If it gets accepted, how does valve produce it?

It's subtle which is good, but it isn't really something iconic someone would set out to want. It just references the one gamemode that's almost never played.
Design wise it's fine but the content itself is just sort of lacking. It doesn't look like something I'd associate with TF2 at all, the only thing being one unplayed gamemode that got left in the dust.
Like I said, it looks okay, just, even knowing about TF2, if I were to see that the first thing to come to my mind probably wouldn't be "hey that guy plays Team Fortress 2".
It's good to make sure you distance yourself from blatantly obvious things like straight up putting the Sandvich on a shirt, but I should still be able to tell what the source material is if I played said source material.
Design is okay, dislike the ideas though.
honestly, is it just T-Shirts ?
Its the same initiative as the dota shoppe for TI4 a while ago.
T-shirts are the easiest to produce and simple for the community to design.
Things like bottle openers, plushies, jewelry, keychains are also accepted
edit:
Yeah seems in mistaken, appears to be t-shirts and posters only sadly

looks like a mediocre deviantart t-shirt design
no offense. just not valve quality.
thumb is too big, face is disproportionate, just loads of little issues.
I might as well post this here too

Its not supposed to be Valve quality, its our take and style of drawing. Its meant to be cartoony.

it's ugly. if you want it accepted, you at least should make the proportions correct.
Ikes, stop being such a stupid dickbag and choose better words than ugly, constructive criticism is a way better choice than blatant insults.
And yes, I am using insults because you are not acting any better.
While I agree that he was pretty vague, he already stated what he thinks is wrong with the picture.

yeah okay
i tried to tell him his proportions were off and gave him examples. i got rated dumb because obviously he cant take criticism.
gg no re, nice job being a hypocrite, potato.
when i say valve quality, i mean a quality of art that valve would accept. seeing as how he's a workshop contributor id think he'd have some idea of what that means.
I wouldn't really call that constructive criticism, more like something an over-expectant douche would say, even if you did add some suggestions to your insults to make it look like proper criticism.
Those boxes serve you right.
I always figured you facepunch folk had some clue of what assumptions should be made when someone says your art looks like it came from deviantart. i guess I was wrong.
it looks like it was rushed, with little care for fine details were put into it.
the perspectives are off, especially with the head. the head looks like a flat image taken directly from the side. not only is this lazy but it doesnt fit with the direction the rest of his body is pointing.
his left eye isnt apparent, when his left browline and and undereye area are.
this thumb is larger than his index finger in both length and girth.
his right shoulder is far too low.
the back of nobody's head sticks out that far.
his upper arms are thinner than his forearms.
the fingers on his right hand look as if they are lines stemming from a curve.
Is someone know the good proportions for a poster? I see a lot of 18" x 24" posters.
Also, how much DPI? 300?

Valve, leave me alone, I'm on a budget.
How do I get around this if I'm using GIMP and Inkscape?
EDIT: GIMP can open .psd files. Yay.

Do what everyone does :v:
I just had a thought that might be neat. You know those "I am the Stig" shirts? Why not "I am the Pyro"?
Did I do good at all?
[t]https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/102054761/Badlands%20WIP.png[/t]
still a pretty heavy wip, the badlands thing is just a placeholder, basically
also thinking of removing the gg no re glhf thing, dunno if that's in the best taste
So would it be okay to post concepts to claim here? I'm no artist, so I wouldn't really be able to make my idea into something worthwhile.
