Overview Black Mesa is the famous re-imagining of Half-Life on the Source engine. The game is still in development, but is available as an Early Access title on Steam and is regularly updated. Development began in 2004, as a mod for Half-Life 2. Nearly eight years after, in 2012, the mod was finally released. It featured an original soundtrack and voice acting, along with a custom face creation system. Black Mesa was praised for its level design and generally high production values, but was criticized for its lack of both multiplayer and the Xen chapters of Half-Life's singleplayer campaign, along with the streamlining of some singeplayer chapters. In 2015, Black Mesa was released on Steam. This version brought an engine upgrade, loads of bugfixes and visual improvements in many areas. Multiplayer is also included in the game now. Several classic maps, such as Crossfire, Stalkyard, Gasworks and Bounce are available to play, along with a couple of new maps. Xen is still being worked on. There is also Steam Workshop support, and a fledgling modding scene.
Surface Tension Uncut - adds missing sections of the chapter On A Rail. May not work with the retail game.
Um dude, it's actually supposed to be On a Rail Uncut, and not Surface Tension Uncut you accidentally typed on. Just so you know.
Just noticed, there are some new models for Xen (props_xen) and Surface Tension Uncut (props_stu). Also, I remember one of the developers talking about making a new radio model to replace the HL2 model in Office Complex, and I was wondering if this was it: [t]http://i.imgur.com/Db7xE31.png[/t] as the map still uses the old one. When will they work on XEN?

How many people are playing multiplayer?
How many people are playing multiplayer?
Not as much as there should be
Not as much as there should be
It's so depressing. Most i've ever played with is 11 :l Always so much fun but yes, no one is ever playing.
I'd offer to play with you guys, but my internet is total garbage. I've managed to enjoy one match since release. On an unrelated note, I took some textures I was making for another project and slapped them into BM to see what it'd look like.
It's so depressing. Most i've ever played with is 11 :l Always so much fun but yes, no one is ever playing.
It's almost like Half-Life's Deathmatch was overshadowed by Counterstrike and Team Fortress. Who woulda thought that would happen with Black Mesa.
I wish it had more people, it kinda plays like a slower Duke Nukem 3D MP
Working on another model, heavy WIP. Definitely going to be tweaking the paint scratching a lot. Way too grungy, esp. around the edges.
I like it, it looks grimier than the stock model. I assume you were using the model from the gearbox hd pack for inspiration?
Primarily, yeah. I figured it and the SD model were similar enough. I'll likely clean it up a bit. Experimental weapon probably shouldn't look too battle worn. Also, does anyone have a problem with me posting my custom assets in this thread? While I'd like to keep showing stuff I don't want to derail the thread or post where it's unwanted.
Also, does anyone have a problem with me posting my custom assets in this thread? While I'd like to keep showing stuff I don't want to derail the thread or post where it's unwanted.
Well, I don't have a problem with it at all, because people who did it haven't been banned yet, therefore I assume it is perfectly fine.

I wish somebody would make a particle mod to make more exaggerated sparks and wall impacts. I tried to a while back but I barely knew what I was doing and things kept shitting themselves.
Christ, they're STILL working on Xen? At this rate its going to be double the size of the main game and have like 5 new boss fights. [editline]27th December 2015[/editline] Hey now, kids, i meant that in an optimistic way, calm down.

There could be more particles, but there definitely needs to be a balance. In WC you couldn't see what you were shooting half the time.

In WC you couldn't see what you were shooting half the time.
I don't think it needs to the levels of SMOD or anything, but at the very least some flashy FEAR-like sparks that bounce around, and STALKER-like concrete impacts might be nice and give an extra bit to the gunplay as well as the feeling of being shot at.
Done! If you want to download it, you can do so from Gamebanana here. If you want to use them with my HD arms, download this instead. I'll upload to the Steam Workshop as soon as CC gets their Workshop Tool issues sorted. Find any issues, have suggestions, wanna tell me you hate it, etc. I'll be here. Hope someone enjoys it!
Is Xen finished now?

That's a nice glock you have there
I would like to see it pushed down and towards the center more like the HL1 position, same with the shotgun. Mix that with crypt's arms and you got yourself a definitive classic pack
I saw this game a bit more than half off.. I splurged and bought it. How much fun am I in for, boys?
I saw this game a bit more than half off.. I splurged and bought it. How much fun am I in for, boys?
About 14/20ths of how fun you find Half Life.
The latest update is filled with a lot of bugs atm so you might have a better experience waiting for a bugfix patch.
