Where do you place YOUR sentry? - Games

It's simple, just post a picture/tell us where you like to place your sentries and dispensers and why, etc. Normally on 2fort if all the important sentry spots are already taken I set up my sentry here. [media]http://gyazo.com/49b9878084b1dc39cf3a435ee4523b6b.png[/media] Mainly because it's a big help to Snipers who hate Scouts, Demos and Soldiers always jumping up and slaughtering them while they're aiming for that idle Heavy. It can be easily taken down if someone gets angry and switches to Demoman, but it's fun while it lasts and you contribute a lot to battlement bros. So tell me FP, where do you place YOUR sentry/dispenser/whatever? Also Mods, if you don't like the idea of the thread a simple lock would be nice.

I can't just say where I place my sentry, it completely depends on the situation, what team I am on, and who I'm playing with.

I usually go on offense and tank my sentry(not with the gunslinger). It's a strategy I call Nomadicy. I build a simple level 1 sentry, and I carry it around to unexpected spots while the enemy is distracted, and I pelt them to death. I pick up metal from boxes on my way around, and occasionally, I will level my sentry up if the situation calls for it.

I love to find the weirdest places to build my sentry. On top of ledges, little spires, hidden in grass patches, wherever you least expect it, that's probably where I'm trying to build. :v:

I try to go behind the enemies spawn point if the map allows me, then I build a mini-sentry at their spawn, I kill them with a wrench when they're distracted with the sentry then move to a different spot. I never leave a sentry at a spot for more than 2 kills.

Put sentries in that unsappable spot on the first stage of Goldrush with Wrangler.

I can't put sentries anywhere anymore, they're destroyed within three minutes I swear. Demos sneak in, the soldiers pick them off from a range, and pyros come if the sentries are too close. Virtually in every map, there is no safe spot for a sentry, and it really depends entirely on your team to keep that sentry alive. Engineer is easily the least played class by now, I see way more soldiers then anything.

It's also really fun when you somehow manage to muster your whole team as Engineer.

I've given up on building sentry nests. Now I use the mini sentry whenever I'm engineer, and that little guy will follow me to the line I wanted to create so my team mates can get to.

I use the Gunslinger most of the time, I put them anywhere that I damn please, my shotgun and pistol do most of the work anyway. Although, if I'm crafty, I'll sometimes sneak it into a hidden location and use it like a tripwire to alert me of incoming flanks :v:

i like to build sentries that get the most kills, but i usually change my mind and move it to somewhere it can defend the cart / point most. Putting the sentry above the tunnel in badwater is a good choice, the level with the stairs. Put it behind slightly behind the stairs so the stairs is like a invincible shield for your sentry.

I like to set em up in spots where the team least expects them. For instance, on badwater where that huge courtyard is behind the roof of the second cap. Ill set up a sentry back there and rear gaurd the roof defense.

I build a level 3 sentry on Badwater and wait until we're about to run in with an uber, (give the uber a good couple seconds to get the nest under the map room cleared) then I jump out the map room window on the last point and plop a level 3 sentry right in the middle of everything. %50 of the time the uber chaos will cover the build time and just watch as nothing can defend the cart.

When the enemy team pushes to the last point (which shouldn't happen anyways :v:) there is a small roof in the back of this "sniper-booth" for BLU. Sentryjump up there, build your stuff, fuck the enemy team up. Would just recommend this if you have at least one other Engie, because otherwise the main route keeps completely unprotected.

I've stopped many heavy/medic couples with the minisentry. it's fucking awesome :v:

i love Viaduct because of the grass patch. I can hide easily a lv1 - mini sentry here and shoot people a lot before they even notice it
