• How to: Merging Custom Guis

Did you ever wish "Man I like this GUI! But I don't like this part. While this GUI I like this part but do not like the rest."? Well here is a solution! A way to merge 2 custom GUI(s) or even more! Follow this and you will be able to merge GUIs at your will! Step one: Requirements. Make sure you know how to install a GUI first before trying this tutorial! Make sure you have at least two Custom GUI s. And then install one GUI into your tf2 (We will call it the base). The other one is what we will be merging with the base GUI! And before we begin step two lets say where your tf2 folder will be. (Commonly) C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Team Fortress 2 Step two: Porting over assets Goto your TF2 directory and then goto C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Team Fortress 2\tf\custom\(GUI NAME HERE) and there you should see a folder called materials. If not go check to make sure there is not another file named the same as the GUI. Else create a materials folder. And then open up the GUI folder of the GUI you did not install. And then copy the materials folder into C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Team Fortress 2\tf\custom\(GUI NAME HERE) And when it says to merge say yes. This will add the files needed and unneeded files but you can remove those (Which how I will not talk about in this thread) Step 3 : The Merging! Go to the folder called "resource" in your custom GUI directory then go to "ui" Here you should find alot of .res files Here is a list of what some do (This list is small I might add on to it later!) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ gamemenu.res -- Title screen files mainmenuoverride.res -- Title screen files ClassSelection.res -- The class selection screen. (Can also edit control points so if you change this you should change ControlPointCountdown.res, ControlPointIcon.res and ControlPointProgressBar.res!) ControlPointCountdown.res -- Something to do with control points. ControlPointIcon.res -- Something to do with control points. ControlPointProgressBar.res -- Something to do with control points. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Now replace the files you want to change with the files from the GUI you did not install. Step 4: Enjoy Now it should work. There might be issues. But this did not happen for me! Make sure you follow the instructions correctly. If anything is confusing please tell me! (There might be issues if they changed the control point icons to something other then a square)
I read this as "Merging Custom Girls"... It's 2am... Good "How to"! But maybe some pictures would be useful.
