• Portal 2: Displacement - AKA Facepunch, help me playtest my crappy mod

[video]https://youtu.be/HLGoDW6DyEU[/video] So, this is a portal 2 mod I've been working on for quite a while. It's main selling point (so to speak) is that it features a brand new testing gun in addition to the normal portal device. It's not polished yet and, honestly speaking, is a hack on top of a hack on top of a babel tower of hacks, but I think it works very well so far considerating the limitations I'm working under. I have decided to run a little public alpha run to help me smooth out the bugs and give some feedback on the puzzles I have figured out so far. The demo has about 8 chambers and no unusual artpass, since the puzzles are still subject to change based on how I will see people react to them. Now, the fun part is, I've implemented a simple polling system where after each chamber the game opens a steam overlay and asks you to fill in a simple survey about a test chamber you've just completed: [t]http://i64.tinypic.com/2w2lri9.png[/t] I haven't really advertised my mod anywhere other then moddb, but since I launched the alpha yesterday I've already gotten some really useful feedback about the early chambers and suggestions of new features to implement. So, if you fancy portal and like weird puzzle mechanics, please, give it a shot! Even if you don't beat the whole demo (so far no one has, according to the survey data) as long as you fill the polls you're already helping me make my mod better. If it happened with the gun, did it happen just randomly, or did you fire the gun close to a wall or did something unusual? Im still working on ironing these kind of glitches out. A month and a bit later into the alpha test, I just wrote a [URL="http://www.moddb.com/mods/portal-2-displacement/news/portal-2-displacement-blog-entry-4-open-alpha-survey-results-summary"]short article[/URL] where I describe what kind of stuff I learned from the surveys. Lots of charts, that kind of stuff. Thanks to everyone who gave their opinions in the polls during the alpha so far! I am already beginning implementing much requested features and fixing bugs based on the feedback I have received. For anyone else, it's still not too late to participate! On a completely unrelated note, I literally just found out via referral links that my mod got into a [URL="http://twinfinite.net/2015/02/portal-2-mods-you-need/8/"]"Portal 2: The 15 Best Mods You Can’t Play Without"[/URL] compilation on some weird website. I think it's really funny since my mod literally isn't out yet, and I guess people have been playing portal 2 just fine without it all these years :v: (also, the article was apparently posted in February 2015, which is about 2.5 years before I started working on the mod :tinfoil: )
