ive just reinstalled oblivion today, got outside the dungon. and the grass texture has been replaced with a weird purple one, so im looking at a purple landspace.
when i get a closer look at the texture i see that its a map of tamrial, but... purple.
wtf?!
any ideas how to fix this?
It means you lack textures.
Remove all texture mods you have.

iv got no texture mods.

Oblivion - Textures - Compressed.bsa
is that important? is it a vanilla file?
Yeah, buy it instead of downloading it illegally if you have no texture mods.

It's a shader problem, delete your Shaders folder in bethesda softworks/oblivion/data then restart oblivion. it'll probably break a mod but it'll fix the ground.

ive had it for ages and this is a very new proplem. ive done nothing to that file, so ive not idea why the games acting up. ill get some screen shots to show you wats happend.

It's a texture error. Pure purple textures are Oblvion's equivalent of the Source engine's "Purple-and-Black-checker" thing. You could either reinstall, or pull any .bsa files with "Texture" in their name clean off the CD.
Replace any BSAs with Texture in their name in the directory where you found Textures - Compressed.bsa
Those are the archive files the game pulls textures from.

That would be because you deleted all of the bloody shader files.
The problem is that a couple of shaders are simply conflicting. The only real way to resolve this at this stage is to delete one shader at a time, run the game (use windowed mode to make it less taxing on your system and improve the startup time), and check if it fixed it. If not, restore the shader, delete the next, try again.
I had to do this when I first installed Shivering Isles, and I found the culprit within about 5 minutes.
TLL is disabling land - you can't see that?

I tryed this...It still didn't work. Its got a purple map of the city in the middle...
TLL Works but I can't see very far
I suggest you uninstall, delete the Oblivion folder and all of its contents, and reinstall.

All this happened when I installed Fcom...And all the other mods in the TES4 Thread here...
Then you probably didn't install it right, make backups of all your mod files, reinstall and replace.
