I really want to get into this MMO, the raids and everything seem really fun but I find myself getting bored before I get to any decent level. The highest I've had is a level 21. I make a Hunter and level it up to about level 10 but then I hear people saying that Hunters are useless and can't PVP etc. etc. Then I make a Paladin for the amazing PVE utility but get massively bored. Then I delete the characters for the names, same circle. I can't play my character without thinking another character would be better, nor can I find a class that I really like to play. During all of this all of the characters have been Blood Elves meaning I've gotten so amazing at the first zone I can get to level 8 in an hour and 10 in 2. It also means that I'm monumentally bored with the content but will have to keep grinding through until I find a class I like. --- So really the question is "is this commonplace"? Did you all have trouble finding a class you like. And for that matter a race you like? All of the Alliance models seem to lack proper detail (humans have fucking ugly faces that don't look human atall) except for Draenei and Draenei are big and bulky. Horde are cool but the only ones I really like are Blood Elves. It's just one big struggle, me trying to find something I like about the game when I really want to like it! Advice? Anything really?
I'd go for a human warrior maybe a human mage, Or you could go for a undead mage. Also if you wanna have fun, try some dungeons every now and then, when you get bored of doing quests. Most importantly, i suggest joining a social guild otherwise you will get bored of not having any interaction.
Don't listen to others, make a character that appeals to you.
Ask yourself this first: What do you want to do when you hit 80? Long version: If you say PvP: It doesn't really matter which class, as long as you choose depending on the way you want to play. Do you want to melee dps, ranged dps, or do you like capping flags in Warsong Gulch by stealthing and sprinting? Or do you want to assist your team members by healing them? Can't decide? Pick a class that can fulfill multiple roles like a Druid or a Paladin. If you say PvE: Do some good research first. You might want to pick an easy dps class but be aware, there are hundreds like you. If you are a class 50% of the people are too, then it might be hard to get a group. If you want to be able to find a group at all times, make a healing character. Do you want to be invited at first to make a food table and then be kicked out of the group? Make a Mage. Do you want to be able to use just about any loot that drops before your eyes? Make a Hunter. Do you want to be invincible at all times? Make a Paladin. Short version: Pick a play style ( melee dps, ranged dps, healing, or one that can do more than 1 depending on the spec ). Then start striking through classes you're not going to play. If you say I want to be a healer, youcan already strike through most classes. If you want to play a melee character then you can strike through all the caster classes and the hunter. Once you've picked a role, it should already be a lot easier to pick a class since you will only have about 4 left to choose from. Then just start researching the classes until you can pick one. As for races, it doesn't really matter which one, just pick a race that you like and that can be the class you want to be.
Nice advice, I think I'll try a Priest for the healing. That way I'll get groups :)
Have fun levelling a holy priest dude, that's some hard shit.
:(
Have fun levelling a holy priest dude, that's some hard shit.
If it's his first character he won't notice if it's hard or not as there's nothing to compare to (ignoring the handful of levels the others had). My main and first I ever leveled is a Priest. I leveled as a shadowpriest and found it easy enough. [editline]08:30PM[/editline] Oops didn't notice about the getting into groups. Thought you meant level 80 healing. Even though I did manage to heal alot of instances as a shadowpriest.
Priests are very fun, and very useful too. Leveling them can be a pain, however. The official WoW forums has a guide or two on how to level one decently, but if you don't want to look at those then at least remember to always have Sprit Tap talented (if you're soloing of course, don't be dumb).
always. [img_thumb]always[/img_thumb]
Have fun levelling a holy priest dude, that's some hard shit.
You clearly have never played a priest below lvl 60? A priest no matter what spec, whether it be shadow for healing can heal the low lvl instances once they learn the class, I leveled holy til 40 and it was a drag then 40-60 as shadow and I still got groups all the time. [editline]08:48PM[/editline]
always. [img_thumb]always[/img_thumb]
If you're healing in instances/leveling with a friend/random, then it's no point as it's unlikely you will get the killing blow, but other than that yeah.

Lightbourne if you want you can roll on my server and I can help you out.
I can get to level 8 in an hour and 10 in 2.
i can get to level 10 in like 30 minutes stop changing your mind, stick with your class, don't fucking make alts. it's what fucked me over when i first started playing, i had your exact same problem. also get a questing addon like questhelper(ew) carbonite or lightheaded.
RAF power leveling with a friend is actually very fun and rewarding. Least it was for me, I got level 32 in a week.
And then you chose a hunter, one of the easiest classes to level.
my 4 year old brother got a hunter to a 33

Exactly. I leveled as a Shadow Priest to 80 and healed instances up to Northrend and even a couple there.

Hunters are all I see in PVP. At least in 10-19 :V
Roll a Death knight :)
Roll a Death knight :)
That is not helping him at all :P Though my suggestion would be feral druid or hunter with any talent.

When I was 14 I started wow and did the same thing all the way till I was 15 1/2. Then I quit wow. Now that I am 16 1/2 I had the very bad urge to go back to wow and play it one last time. Now I am hooked and cant get off of it. I have a 37 Hunter and only have been playing for 2 days and 9 hours. Also one thing that helped me was music. Music helps you get through any hard grind. Also if you can follow guides then I recommend this one. It is free to. http://www.ding80.com/
Yes, you found out the game is boring, don't play it then.
Hunters are all I see in PVP. At least in 10-19 :V
Thats 10-19, the Rogue/Hunter superclass section. Of course you're going to see hunters in that range, they're the best ranged class there is.
http://www.wow-pro.com/leveling_guides/james_horde_leveling_guide I was doing the same thing as you, leveling was taking too long so I would just keep making alts. I started following this guide and it's really easy to follow and makes leveling go by fast. Also like someone else said, Music.
Hunters aren't all THAT bad for PvP.. Any class can PvP if they want. And to some extent, do well. Just depends on how well you and your team mates can play their individual classes. On that note, hunters in BG's own. There also a pretty fun kiting class. If you're looking for any consolation on hunter PvP as in arena.. Well I'm not an expert in that category (nooblol) but I've heard good things about hunters in 3v3? Correct me if I'm wrong D:
