Have you ever wondered what the American Civil War would have been like IN SPACE? Me neither, but Gunman Chronicles did. Gunman Chronicles was a retail total conversion for the original Half-Life, and is probably the best example of why selling a mod is a bad idea. Downloading it as a mod, you would probably have been pretty impressed, paying thirty or forty bucks? You wouldn't be amused. By the way, there's also DINOSAURS.

High noon in deep space, bitches.
The setting makes no fucking sense, taking place in a sci-fi setting where the Confederate States of America seem to be inexplicably exploring not only interstellar space, but if the opening text is anything to go by, othergalaxies. The acting is cheesy to a "so bad it's good" point, they're basically on the verge of shouting at all times.
"HE STUCK BY HIS COMMANDER, BECAUSE THAT'S A GUNMAN'S DUTYYYYYYYY!!!! >:("
However, I'll give it this, the guns are loads of fun, and have tons of modes and add-ons. The basic pistol alone can fire in pulse, charge, rapid, and sniper modes. The game is a weird sort of pulp fiction mish-mash in my eyes, you have your lost jungle world with dangerous plants and natives, a bit of frontier town here and there, and General Robert E. Lee appears to be the captain of a starship. Wait what.

It's really quite hard to say anything else about this game, it isn't as horrible as reviews might have you believe, but it's not great, and it's certainly strange. Play it for laughs and to see Confederate soldiers with lasers shoot dinosaurs, and in the words of one of the many grunts, KICK SOME XENOME ASS!
Oh by the way, DINOSAURS!

God i loved that game.
I don't have any idea where the cd is nowdays :(
Bought the game for xmas last year (memories from the game made me want to buy it again)
I came across a website that has something that makes gunman into a hl1 mod so that it is nicer. Also I used my cd key on steam and got some goldsource games :D
MY CHILDHOOD RUSHES BACK TO ME AT THE BLINK OF AN EYE. heh.
I loved this game, I remember back in the day when people actually played multiplayer, and the maps were all modified to have crudely pixelated porn plastered on the game walls to break your attention from the battle. IMO, this is my second favorite 90's era sierra game after Half Life 1. I recommend this game a bunch.
Hahah, I fucking loved Gunman. I loved the M.U.L.E with all its fire-modes, and that weird acid launcher thing with the three different colours. To this day I still don't know what colour corresponds to what.
This game would be tons of fun as co-op. The shotgun can fire anywhere between one to FOUR shells at once, it's such a waste of ammo but it kicks so much ass.
this game didn't make any sense
Holy shit it's a Broncosaurus Rex FPS.
In the year 2202, dinosaurs have been discovered on the planet Cretasus. But these dinosaurs are just as smart as the humans now flocking to their home. Velociraptors trade in alien weapons, leptoceratops guard their desert secrets, and T-rex dynasties protect their nests from egg raiders. Despite the dinosaurs, human pioneers arrive in droves at New Savannah's busy spaceport. Lured by free land, gold, and simple freedom, they yearn for a new life. Their wagon trails soon trudge west on the rutted path of the Tecumseh Trail, bringing new adventures to Cretasus.
Coal powered mecha/railroad engines with cannon arms.

And of course, Raptor Indians.

Amazingly, the whole Civil War-with dinosaurs-in space idea seems to be a style of some kind, look at this RPG book.

YAH BEAT MEH.
I got this installed :v:
Ah what a game !
It was fuck hard though.
If you register your Gunman key on steam you get all GoldSRC games! :v:
But no Gunman :(
Gunman Chronicles was brilliant, I payed like £20 for it and I thought it was a bargain for how much fun it was. I always thought it was a well done HL Mod boxed because of it using the HL engine.

That's because it was abandoned.

It's not even on steam :raise:
I'm so confused :psyduck:
It's not on Steam as far as I know, but if you install it, you can get a patch that adds it to your Steam list all nice and proper.
Also the training was cool.
