Good free/downloadable game that can be played with friends

basically im round my mates house at the moment, wanting a pc game to play that is relatively low spec, fun multiplayer and is relatively small in size. Does such a game exist? many thanks.

Only one computer? If not, google wanderlust, practically what you described. Also try Nexuiz, a fast-paced quake clone, if you want to split up the RPG with a FPS.
