CorsixTH - An open source clone of the classic Theme Hospital
42 replies, posted
As computers evolve, we risk losing some classic games. Bullfrog's Theme Hospital, published in 1997, is a classic simulation game, but getting it to run natively on modern operating systems is getting progressively harder.
This project aims to reimplement the game engine of Theme Hospital, and be able to load the original game data files. This means that you will need a purchased copy of Theme Hospital, or a copy of the demo, in order to use CorsixTH. After most of the original engine has been reimplemented in open source code, the project will serve as a base from which extensions and improvements to the original game can be made.

Fuck, I need to find my old copy of Theme Hospital now.

Bloaty head syndrome *pop*
Theme Hospital still works on my computer! Best game ever made by far.
Hoyl shit i still have my theme hospital disk, but its scratched to hell.
I borrowed Theme Hospital from my first girlfriend but I accidentally scratched it. Come to think of it, we broke up pretty soon after and she never really said why...
Theme hospital ruins relationships
Played this a long time ago on playstation back when I didn't have a computer. Seems an odd choice for something to make a source port of, but I'm not complaining.
The link is to show I don't mean it like "Theme Hospital: Source" by the way.

Yeah we know what a source port is. But this way we can run this on 64 bit machines (if it didn't already) and at higher resolutions. Also wide screen.

Figured as much, but there is always the possibility of someone who doesn't know.

By the way guys, they're looking for LUA coders to make features for in the game. If you've got any experience in either LUA or C++, and want to do a little side-project. Go to their chat and offer to make a nice little feature or something! :buddy:
Wow I remember this. I lost my CD a few years ago. Very fun game.
Wow. I played the shit out of this game on my Playstation. Fuck yeah.
Oh god, I used to play Theme Hospital so much when I was a kid. I always laughed at the patients who would shit all over the floor.
Damn, I bet Thyme would've love this.

Loved theme hospital. this is awesome.
i hope it's easily moddable. the OSS license could spawn a lot of new projects based on it if there's enough interest
You can get The old full version of DOS only, rather then the windows 95 version from some abandonware sites and it works just fine as well, the only problem is I tried running the one I found in Dosbox...and it ran EXTREMELY SLOWLY compared to normal...
cool, I'll have to try this, I love games like this.
What are my options for hospital size, scenarios and more..
Oh god. I just tried this. Because everything is unlocked from the start I had to build really quickly, the doctors were whiney fucks and the hospital was Haemorrhaging money. -$20,000 in 10 minutes.
Nevermind...
Yeah...I want to try the original so I can learn how to do it a bit ...easier, sinc this is "here is everything GET TO WORK" Kinda right now X_X
Corsix is my homeboy.
He made a mod tool suite for dawn of war (the first one) that was infinitely more functional than the offical tools released by relic.
Didn't this have MP support in its last patch? I believe it is possible to play over Hamachi now days. That could be fun for a FP game night if it works on this build.
So basically it's the OpenTTD of Hospitals? Awesome, must try.
