I'm walking around the Brain Scorcher facility, with my VLA Special Assault Rifle at the ready and armed with five grenades. With me, I have a UDP Compact pistol and a few hundred shots, and the 800 shots for my VLA. After successfully shitting myself from my first Bloodsucker hallucination, I enter the facility.
I can't say I was expecting an in-and-out job, but I had no idea what I'd face. After running out of all ammo in X16, I had made sure I had enough ammo for my journey. I also had 19 scientific med kits and 11 normal medkits, along with 20 bandages.
I rounded a corner and saw glowing Bloodsucker eyes, and unloaded on it with the VLA. Another approached, and I pumped it full of lead. I got two sets of Bloodsucker tentacles, and headed on.
Five bloodsuckers and 7 military men later, I was at the Brain Scorcher hub, which was sadly disappointing. Really, it was just a switch in the center of the room. I flipped it, and headed out. After a few rooms, I encountered my enemies.
Three militarymen, easy. Got 'em all with a well-placed grenade, and proceeded forward after checking their bodies for loot. I saw two more military, and an enemy that I had never encountered in the game, but I already knew oh-so-well.
Shit, the Monolith was here.
I unloaded with my gun (bringing my total ammunition count down to 300 for my VLA), and when the muzzleflash stopped, I saw the two Monolith soldiers still standing. The military was dead, sure, but the real enemy stood there, mockingly.
So I tossed a grenade. Killed one, brought the other to the ground. I walked over to him, bleeding and dying, pulled out my UDP, and killed him with a bullet to the temple, only to look up and see, to my horror, two more Monolith. I pressed the grenade button. Nothing. Pulled out the VLA again, after sustaining many, many shots. My ecologist suit was all but shredded, and so I just lured them to me and popped them in the face when they got close enough.
And I continued. 15 militarymen, 8 Monolith, many bullets and 16 medkits later, I was out of 5.56 ammo, out of armor, and out of luck. Sure, I had collected quite a bit of ammo for my new gun, picked off the Monolith (can't recall the name at the moment), but the scope annoyed me. Ironsights would be much better in my current predicament.
And this is where I am, trying to escape the facility with no bodily protection, a gun that is next to useless in closed spaces, and a steadily declining supply of medkits, bandages, and sausage.
But I keep clicking "Last save"! It annoys me so much, I have to have more of it! My personal death count is undoubtedly over 300, but the game keeps calling my name.
S.T.A.L.K.E.R. is rough. It is difficult. It is unforgiving. It is pants-shittingly, pop-out-at-you, what-the-fuck-was-that scary, and I hate it.
Can't wait to get Call of Pripyat.
Take your anger to the STALKER thread, bye idiot.

That's why you keep multiple saves. :eng101:
Take your anger to the STALKER thread, bye idiot.
Did you even read it? I'm not even angry.
That was amazingly well written, and now I want to play Stalker.
Take your anger to the STALKER thread, bye idiot.
You should have read it.
learn to aim and use cover.
if you aim you wont need 9999 bullets
if you use cover you wont DIE and your suit wont BREAK.
and use the thread, por favor
So..you're saying that you hate a game for being challenging...its a survival horror game and your hating it for being that?
So..you're saying that you hate a game for being challenging...its a survival horror game and your hating it for being that?
I hate that I love it so much.
I hate that I love it so much.
So are you saying that when you said that you hated it you where being...sarcastic?
Wait, let me get this straight. OP is butthurt because he can't conserve ammunition? On my playthrough I had craptons of the stuff to spare, because I kept going for headshots. It was a great game, even on my shitty old PC.
So are you saying that when you said that you hated it you where being...sarcastic?
I know. It isn't allowed on the internet. I hoped no one would notice.
Take your anger to the STALKER thread, bye idiot.
You didn't even read what he posted, you're the idiot.
Call of Pripyat blows SHOC out of the fucking water, you are going to love it.
My stalker stopped working D:
posted a thread about it but no one knew what to do
I'm so goddamn pissed, stalker is so fun.
Though I do agree that this should be in the STALKER thread, this isn't a butthurt complaint about the game. The OP is enjoying the game.

Uh, sniping AND flaming? What a terrible post.
Get out of here Stalker(s).
Also. Yeah. Always keep a backup save.
Uh, sniping AND flaming? What a terrible post.
No flaming and I read enough to know that he was annoyed therefor no sniping.
Don't be a hater,be a player :keke:
No flaming and I read enough to know that he was annoyed therefor no sniping.
You called him an idiot.
Get out of here Stalker(s).
Also. Yeah. Always keep a backup save.
But where's the fun in that? I don't know, I just don't like backup saves. I just keep hitting the autosave button and I'm good. I like to have one save at all times, on all games (unless I have one save just for messing around, on games like Red Faction).
You called him an idiot.
when you think about it, everyone on FP is an idiot. Therefor, you can shut up.
This is why I always stick to the shadows and carry a big [del]shtick[/del] shotgun.
when you think about it, everyone on FP is an idiot. Therefor, you can shut up.
Son, I am dissapoint. Not everyone on FP is an idiot. You just ASSUME that everyone is. Some of us are actually quite attuned in the fine arts of literature. Now good day to you sir.

Hey, three things contribute to my high ammo use.
1. I'm playing on a laptop. My mouse broke so I'm using the track pad. Horrible aiming, most of the time.
2. Paranoia. Shadows-- not kind to me.
3. I. . . might. . . sometimes shoot dead bodies. Just to be sure :P
Okay, okay. In other words, you hate how much you love it.
Okay, okay. In other words, you hate how much you love it.
That's pretty much the gist of it.
Boy, you crazy. Dead bodies cannot return from the dead. Zombies are not even dead, they are BRAIN dead but not dead.
beat it when you get angry to show your love for it
like my dad does to me!
I recommend you read this:

He too, "hates" Stalker. He also has some more post of CoP and his adventures.

I remember playing my first time. I felt like an invincible badass until I reached the Red Forest, which had me cowering in a corner silently whispering, "There's no place like home... There's no place like home..."
Truth be told, that was one of the most satisfying difficulty curves I've ever experienced in a video game. Probably the only one I've ever noticed that slapped me in the face, really.
